The memorable icy wastes of the planet Hoth were filmed in part at the Hardangerjokulen Glacier, a particularly unpronounceable location in Norway. Many of the backdrops were crafty miniatures or studio recreations, but the barren Scandinavian landscape was used for some outdoor scenes.
