Flights will depart from the Mojave Spaceport in the Californian desert (above), so you'll get spectacular views of the mountains and Pacific coast as you hurtle skywards.

Would-be astronauts will have to pass a basic fitness test and be prepared for a very physical ride; en route to space, they'll experience 3 to 4 g's for around 90 seconds, and 6-7 g's on re-entry. The maximum speed they'll reach will be around 2,500mph, which is more than 3 times the speed of sound.
