US superstar comedian Roseanne Barr is the latest guest celebrity hijacker heading for the Big Brother Hijack house.
In a coup for Channel 4 bosses, Roseanne has agreed to put the remaining housemates through their paces with a series of surprise tasks.
Since her hit TV show Roseanne ended in 1997, Barr, 55, has hosted her own talk show and a cooking show called Domestic Goddess. In 2005 she returned to stand-up comedy, touring the world and she also hosts a daily radio talk show in Los Angeles.
Roseanne once said that the success of her TV show sitcom contributed to her losing touch with reality. "I was in a sound studio for almost a decade. At the end of it, like Rip van Winkle, I came back and found that everything had changed," she says. Suddenly there were computers and e-mails, and it took me another 10 years to catch up with regular people."
Tonight, art critic Brian Sewell takes control of the house and has arranged a dinner which housemates must attend dressed in drag. On Wednesday night lou-mouthed American comic Joan Rivers will take the controls and announce the nominations for eviction.
