When Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant sat down and penned their marvellous sit-com on office life, little could they have known how popular it would be. The cringe-making comedy revolving around middle manager David Brent clearly struck a chord with the British public, no doubt many of them recognising Brent-like traits in certain people in their own office.

But it wasn’t all about Brent. Equally compelling is the self-importance of sycophantic team leader Gareth, the burgeoning office romance between Tim and Dawn and the inexplicable success that sales rep Finchey has with the ladies.

In three short years, The Office has travelled far from its hometown of Slough to be remade in the US, Canada, France, Germany and Norway.
