Titanic (1997)

Though it's not quite the same experience as the spangly new 3D version that's just sailed out of cinemas, you should never pass up an opportunity to board James Cameron's Titanic – just make sure you free up an entire evening. A movie that truly deserves the tag 'epic', it's a spectacular disaster movie that nonetheless trades big on pathos ("She's unsinkable!" etc) and dabbles its toes in puddle-deep romance ("Jack!" "Rose!" "Jack!" "Rose!" repeat ad infinitum). Love it or hate it, you need to see it.
