Lorraine Kelly hospitalised after horse fall
Lorraine Kelly was hopsitalised yesterday (21.02.12) after dramatically falling off a horse.
The 52-year-old TV presenter spent the night at St George's Hospital in Tooting, South London, after losing "lots of blood" from a "deep wound" when the animal stamped on her thigh following her tumble.
She wrote on twitter: "Basically I fell off the horse while attempting a jump for the first time. "Unfortunately the horse stamped on my thigh. As a result - deep wound and lots of blood. Was treated by fab paramedics in ambulance - then given an op under general anaesthetic at hospital. (sic)"
Lorraine was left "bruised and battered" during a private horse riding lesson in London as part of her training for a charity event, and she expects the wound will take around four weeks to heal.
She added: "Will be in for a couple if days and will take around four weeks to heal but will be back at work before that!
"A bit bruised and battered but fine - just sad I can't complete today's charity challenge. (sic)"
Lorraine later thanked her fans for their support and praised the "amazing" NHS staff who helped her.
She tweeted: "Thanks for your get well tweets. Huge thanks to everyone at the scene and the amazing NHS staff - and to you for thinking of me! (sic)"
Regular stand-in Helen Fospero stood in for the Scottish host on her ITV1 chat show 'Lorraine' this morning (22.02.12).
