"Danielle's the daughter Ronnie always wanted"

In next week's EastEnders, Ronnie finally discovers Danielle is her daughter. But as with most EastEnders storylines there will be no happy ending.

We caught up with actress Samantha Janus who reveals Danielle won't be getting the happy reunion she was hoping for…

What's changed in Ronnie and Archie's relationship?
Ronnie has finally started to heal – her relationships with Jack and Archie are getting better and she has started to put the past behind her and move on with her life. Little does she know her world is about to be shattered!

Why does Danielle think that Ronnie already knows who she really is?
Archie tells Danielle he has told Ronnie she is her daughter but that she didn’t want to know. Archie has started to bond with Ronnie and he tries to get rid of Danielle because she is the one person who can expose his lies. Danielle is devastated and goes to confront Ronnie.

How does Ronnie react when Danielle finally tells her she is her daughter?
There is a brief moment where Ronnie thinks she might be telling the truth, but because Archie has painted Danielle as being unstable, Ronnie thinks she is lying and throws her out of the pub. It was really upsetting to film – I felt so mean.

How does Ronnie realise that Danielle is telling the truth?
Danielle has put her locket in Ronnie’s champagne glass, so when she goes to toast Peggy and Archie at their wedding reception Ronnie finds it and realises it is the same one that she gave away with her baby all those years ago.

What is going through Ronnie’s head at this point?
Suddenly Ronnie realises that Archie has been lying to her all these years and her world starts to unravel. The worst moment is when she realises that the baby she advised Danielle to get rid of would have been her grandchild.

Does she feel guilty for being so mean to Danielle?
Definitely, she can’t believe that she was so nasty to Danielle when she was telling the truth. Her first instinct is to find her daughter before it’s too late – everything she has ever wanted is about to disappear forever. Danielle is the daughter Ronnie has always wanted and she doesn’t want to lose her for the second time.

Does Ronnie manage to catch up with Danielle?
Yes, she runs after her - which is hard when you are wearing a huge bridesmaid dress. Ronnie finds Danielle before she gets on the tube and there is a moment where their eyes meet and they are finally reunited.

So is this the start to a new beginning for the pair?
No – of course not. As always there is never a happy ending in EastEnders and it isn’t long before Ronnie’s life takes another dramatic turn. Her world is about to be shattered for the second time that day - but you will have to watch to find out why.
