A huge fireball is to rip through 'Coronation Street', leaving the soap's characters fighting for their lives.
Flames will sweep through the cobbles just seconds after a tram plunges from a viaduct and smashes into the street below, with adulterous new mum Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) having to shield her baby son Jack as she is showered in glass inside Dev Patel's (Jimmi Harkishin) corner shop.
The adulterous new mum's husband Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and her lover Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) will both battle it out to try and save baby Jack, who they each believe is their own son.
Meanwhile, bolshie barmaid Becky McDonald - played by Katherine Kelly - will be thrown to the floor in a giant explosion as debris is flung into the air, while 'Corrie' veteran Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox) is knocked out as the tram smashes into the Kabin.
Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is also reportedly left buried under the rubble while Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati) is left fighting for her life after becoming trapped in her shop.
While Molly and butcher Ashley Peacock - who has been played by Steven Arnold for the past 15 years - are rumoured to be among the three characters perishing in the tram crash scenes, 'Coronation Street' bosses have claimed no-one knows who will be killed off the soap.
A statement on the soap's website reads: "Not even our cast and crew know which residents will die and the drama will continue into 2011."
The scenes - which cost £1million to film - will be shown next Monday (06.12.10) as part of the soap's 50th anniversary storyline.
