Sharongate - 1994

The ultimate betrayal that attracted a whopping 25.3 million viewers and was voted the greatest soap moment in history: It's Sharongate, of course! When Grant revealed Sharon's affair with brother Phil to a packed Queen Vic pub, via a drunken taped confession, no less. One minute, Carol and Alan were jiving up a storm at Phil and Kathy's engagement party; the next "Ripping each other's clothes off…" went Sharon's sloshed, East End drawl. The party ended how all the best storylines end in 'Easties - with a large, stinging slap. This time, from Kathy to Shaz. Ouch.
