Saturday night's alright for fighting: Carl Froch v Lucian Bute

Carl Froch fights IBF super-middlewight champ Lucian Bute, the Formula 1 season heads to Monaco and golf's PGA Championship swings into its final round. Here's a reminder of the sporting highlights in the week ahead.

Boxing - IBF world super-middleweight championship, Carl Froch v Lucian Bute: 26 May (Sky Sports 1) Carl Froch will bid to regain a world title for the second time when he faces IBF super-middleweight champion Lucian Bute in his home town of Nottingham. It will be the first fight for the popular British fighter nicknamed 'The Cobra' since the Super Six final last December, in which he was outclassed by American Andre Ward on the way to losing unanimously on points. Canadian-Romanian Bute, who is unbeaten in 30 professional fights and boasts 24 knock-out victories, is defending his titles on foreign soil for the first time.

Formula 1 - The Monaco Grand Prix: 27 May (BBC One) An incredible Formula 1 season heads to the glitzy and glamorous street circuit of Monte Carlo with the drivers' championship wide open. Incredibly, five races have produced five winners from five different teams. The latest to celebrate taking the chequered flag is Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado, who converted a pole position at the Spanish Grand Prix to a first Williams win in 132 races and seven and a half years. In the overall standings, double world champions Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso are tied at the top, leading Britain's Lewis Hamilton - who is yet to win a race this year.

Golf - The PGA Championship, day four: 27 May (BBC Two) The final day of one of the European Tour's most prestigious events get underway at Wentworth in Surrey, with some of the world's finest golfers likely to be in contention for the €750,000 winner's cheque. Last year, English stars Luke Donald and Lee Westwood finished tied for the lead after 72 holes and headed into a play-off. Westwood's wayward tee shot on the first extra hole allowed Donald to clinch the hole and a dramatic tournament victory. This year, the pair only sit below Rory McIlroy in the world rankings and a good showing by Donald could see him reclaim the number one spot once again.
