The week in telly

Gok's Fashion Fix (Channel 4) finds the strapping lad fronting what he calls Top Gear for girls. This is a consumer programme and may not appeal to those who watched How To Look Good Naked (ie the male half of the audience). Alexa Chung makes a decent sidekick though and this will be must see TV for wannabe fashionistas and style setters. Eat your hearts out Selina Scott and Jeff Banks.

Is Dr Who in danger of being over exposed by the Beeb? Surely not, Why a week never goes by when Radio Times doesn't run a four-page feature. Obviously the return of Billie Piper can only be a good thing, and the scare factor seems to have returned just when the show was relying on David Tennant's eyebrows and playing it for laughs way too often.

The fuss over the gay dad kissing sequence in the cartoonish Heinz sandwich spread ads - now pulled - raises the question of exactly why the commercial went West. The current Ribena ad, which sprays the sticky juice around like so much blood off a chainsaw could easily offend some, especially as it's another ad aimed primarily at the young.

Week one of Wimbledon is always prone to be dull and this year's is a Zed Fest. It's made even worse by the increasing realisation that Sue Barker isn't going to stop giggling like a tongue-tied 12-year-old every time John McEnroe open his annoying mouth. Barker's even laughing at comments made by Tim Henman when he isn't even attempting to be funny. Stop it, woman! Get a grip!

Euro 2008 drew to a finale with Spain v Germany. Come on, no one can have missed England. Wot?! All those nylon and plastic flags of St George not in Basle and Vienna? Shame. A bigger shame that we are in fact now officially worse at football than Turkey, Russia and a shocking French team. And we were cheating at the Oval in the one day series against New Zealand. It's just not cricket. Doh!

Mark Lawrenson - he was the camp king of the one-liner, our fave pundit. Did he say that comment of the week? "If you've got a big centre forward who's giving the centre half four or five inches just stick it in the box. It's not rocket science." Marvellous, Lawro.
