Black Friday FAQs
Black Friday will take place on Friday 25th November 2022. We know that choosing a broadband package can be something that takes time and consideration, so we’ll make sure our deals are around for longer than just one day.
Black Friday is a day dedicated to great deals. Traditionally, Black Friday was held on the first Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States of America and slowly grew into one of the major shopping events on the calendar, with stores filling shelves with bargains.
The name, Black Friday, was thought to come from the opportunity it gave retailers to move their profits from being in the red to being in the black. Slowly the tradition came over to the United Kingdom, giving shoppers a chance to get a bargain just before Christmas.
We tailor some of our best broadband deals for the Black Friday period, so make sure you check back in 2022. As we want to make sure as many households can take advantage as possible, our Black Friday internet deals will be available for longer than just one day.
Virgin Media will have a range of great broadband deals available throughout the Black Friday period. We’ll list all our broadband deals at the top of the page. These can include deals on broadband-only packages all the way up to our broadband, TV and phone bundles.
If you’re thinking of picking up a broadband deal over Black Friday, make sure you’re choosing the right broadband speed for your household’s needs. You’ll be able to find out more about the individual speeds when our newest deals are added above.
Black Friday began in America during the 1980s and marks the start of the Christmas shopping season. Held on the first Friday after Thanksgiving, the day gave shoppers the opportunity to grab a bargain or two in the run up to the holidays.
Black Friday was traditionally an event that took place in shops on the high street, with online retailers waiting until Cyber Monday before releasing their deals. That’s not the case so much anymore, with most retailers, both online and offline, making sure their best deals are available on Black Friday and Virgin Media is no different.
Virgin Media’s Black Friday deals will be available in November 2022. All our Black Friday broadband deals will be featured on this page, so you can make an informed choice.
While Black Friday deals are usually only available for a day, we want to make sure our customers choose the right package. Choosing the right broadband deal can take time, and as our packages all come with a contract, it’s important that you get the right one.
Black Friday can’t all be about getting a bargain, particularly not when you’re signing up for a broadband package that comes with a contract. While price is important, there are more things to consider than just how much money you’re saving. Here are some things to watch out for.
Get the right package
Virgin Media has more than just broadband packages. While we do offer a broadband only service, which is ideal for those who don’t want TV or a phone line, we also offer inclusive TV and landline options. We call these broadband bundles, and they can be a cost-effective way to get all your services from one place.
Get the right speed
All our Black Friday broadband deals come with different speeds. Choosing the right broadband speed is key to getting the best broadband deal. If you get something too slow then you may not be able to do everything online that you want at the same time. If you get something too fast, you’ll be paying for a service you’re not fully using.
Our Black Friday internet deals can range from our M100 package, which is ideal for households that don’t connect too many devices at the same time, all the way up to our M500 package, which can comfortably support a household that’s constantly online, downloading massive games, watching movies in 4K and has a network of smart devices.
Broadband speed is measured in Megabits per second (Mbps), and we describe the speed of our packages with average speeds. This should give you a good indication of what speed you’ll need for your household.
Understand our broadband contracts
All our broadband deals come with a contract. That means you’re signed up to our services for the length of that contract. When that contracted period comes to an end, you will be moved onto a rolling 30-day contract. This means you’re free to switch broadband provider and only have to give 30 days’ notice to do so.
Understand our prices
Our Black Friday broadband deals offer fantastic savings on our products, but make sure you understand how much the product costs and how long the saving lasts. Black Friday is a brilliant time to switch to us, but it’s important that you know how much it’s going to cost so you’re not surprised when the first bill arrives.
This can only really be answered by you. Every year, we offer Black Friday broadband deals that are suitable for almost every household. If you’re thinking about switching to Virgin Media, there are a few things to consider before you do.
Can you get Virgin Media where you live?
Our services aren’t available everywhere. Make sure you check your postcode using our availability checker to make sure we offer our services where you live.
Are you out of contract?
If you’re switching to Virgin Media from another provider, make sure you’re out of your contracted period with that provider. If you cancel when you’re still under contract, you may be charged cancellation fees.
This depends on which of our Black Friday broadband deals you choose. We listed all our products and prices above so you can see the savings. Black Friday is a great time to save on a broadband package, so if you’re in the market for one, now’s a great time to buy if you’re ready.
Cyber Monday will take place on Monday 28th November 2022. It’s traditionally the first Monday after the Black Friday weekend and a chance for online retailers to offer discounts on their products. Cyber Monday follows Black Friday, and it next it falls on 28th November 2022. It began as a way to sell tech and to promote online shopping, but over the years it's grown and become an extension of Black Friday itself.
