How do I delete and recover emails?

Virgin Media Mail lets you delete either an entire conversation or one message from a conversation. In either case, deleting will move the message to the Trash folder where you can permanently delete it or recover it if you change your mind.

Note: If you have enabled the option to permanently remove deleted messages within the email settings, you will not be able to recover the message once it has been deleted from the Trash folder. It is recommended that you do not use this setting.

  1. Select a message that you wish to delete or select the empty boxes next to the message if you want to delete more than one
  2. Click the Delete icon Trash Icon in the toolbar, or choose Delete in the Detail view (you can also use the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard)
  3. The message will then be moved into the Trash folder
  1. Select the folder from the list on the left-hand side
  2. Click the folder-specific actions icon  next to the folder name
  3. Click Delete all messages from the menu
  4. The messages will move into the Trash folder
  1. Open the Trash folder in the folder tree
  2. Select a message you want to restore (You can select more than one by clicking on the empty boxes next to each email)
  3. Click the More actions icon More Icon in the toolbar
  4. Select Move from the menu
  5. Select the folder you want to move the message into, and click Move 
  6. The message will move from trash into the selected folder

Permanently deleted messages can’t be recovered. Before permanently deleting a message, make sure you no longer need it.

  1. Open the Trash folder in the folder tree
  2. Select the message you want to permanently delete
  3. Click the Delete icon Trash in the toolbar or choose Delete in the Detail view
  4. The message will be permanently deleted

Note: Any messages in the Trash folder that are over 7 days old are automatically deleted.
