How do I delete and recover emails?


Virgin Media Mail lets you delete either an entire conversation or one message from a conversation. In either case, deleting will move the message to the Trash folder where you can permanently delete it or recover it if you change your mind.

Note: If you have enabled the option to permanently remove deleted messages within the email settings, you will not be able to recover the message once it has been deleted. It is recommended that you do not use this setting.

  1. Select a message that you wish to delete or you can click on the boxes next to the message if you want to delete more than one.

  2. Click the Delete iconTrash Icon in the toolbar, or choose Delete in the Detail view.

    • You can also use the Delete or Backspace key on your keyboard.

  3. The message will then be moved into the Trash folder.

  1. Select the folder from the folder list on the left hand side.

  2. Click the Folder-specific actions icon  next to the folder name and click on Empty folder from the menu.

  3. The message will then be moved into the Trash folder.

  1. Open the Trash folder in the folder tree.

  2. Select a message you want to restore. You can select more than one message by clicking on the boxes next to the messages you want to restore.

  3. Click the More iconMore Icon in the toolbar and then select Move from the menu.

  4. Select the folder you want to move the message into and then click on the Move button.

  5. The message will be moved from trash into that folder.

Note: Permanently deleted messages can't be recovered. Before permanently deleting a message, make sure you no longer need it.

  1. Open the Trash folder in the folder tree.

  2. Select the message you want to permanently delete.

  3. Click the Delete iconTrash in the toolbar or choose Delete in the Detail view.

  4. The message will be permanently deleted.

Note: Any messages in the Trash folder that are over 7 days old are automatically deleted.
