How to manage my emails

There are various different options available to keep your Virgin Media mailbox nice and tidy.

How to move a message

You can organise your messages by moving individual messages or complete conversations into another folder. For more help setting up your personal folders, take a look at Using Personal Folders in Virgin Media Mail.

  1. Select a message you want to move
  2. Click the More actions icon  in the toolbar and then select Move from the menu. You can also use the Actions icon in the Detail view
  3. In the Move window, select the folder you want to move your message to and then click on the Move button
  4. Your message will now be moved

You can also move messages using drag and drop. Just select the messages you want to move and simply drag into a folder in the relevant list.

How to copy a message

You can copy an individual message or a complete conversation to another folder in Virgin Media Mail.

  1. Select a message you want to copy
  2. Click the More actions icon  in the toolbar and then select Copy from the menu. You can also use the Actions icon  in the Detail view
  3. In the Copy window, select the folder you want to copy the message to and then click on copy
  4. Your message will now be copied over

How to save a message

If you want to keep a record of a message, you can save it as a text file (also known as an EML file).

  1. Select a message
  2. Click the More actions icon  in the toolbar and select Save as file from the menu. You can also use the Actions icon  in the Detail view
  3. Follow the instructions for saving the EML file

How to print the content of an email

Sometimes you may find it handy to print out your email – or part of it, like tickets or confirmation bookings. We’ve made sure this is super easy.

  1. Select a message you want to print
  2. Click the More actions icon  in the toolbar and then click on Print in the menu. A window will open with a print preview. You can also use the Actions icon  in the Detail view
  3. If required, change the printer settings and then click on the Print button
  4. Close the print preview window

How to delete email folders

If you delete a folder, all subfolders and contents in this folder will also be deleted. Deleted subfolders and its contents can’t be restored.

  • In the folder menu, select the folder you want to delete
  • Click the folder-specific actions icon  next to the folder name and click the Delete button
  • Confirm you want to delete the folder (and its contents)

How to clean up email folders

If you use an email client like Outlook, you may find messages you delete in the email client may not be deleted in Virgin Media Mail – due to different settings. These messages will be shown as greyed out with a strike through the text. You can easily delete these messages from Virgin Media Mail by using the Clean up option.

  1. Click the folder you want to clean up
  2. Click the folder-specific actions icon  next to the folder name
  3. Select Clean up
  4. The messages you have deleted in your email client will be removed from the folder

Automatically filter messages

Virgin Media Mail’s filters allow you to manage the flow of incoming messages. You can automatically:

  • Move messages into a specific folder
  • Forward messages to another email address
  • Mark messages as read
