How do I change the parental controls on my Virgin TV box?

At Virgin Media, we take protection of your little ones seriously. That’s we’ve got lots of options to help you choose what shows your kids can access.

Virgin TV V6, powered by TiVo

If you use apps on your Virgin TV V6 box such as Netflix or BBC iPlayer, they may have their own PIN or Parental Control set. See Parental Control for Apps on Virgin TV.

You can extend the PIN to control some purchases such as movies:

  1. Press Home on the remote
  2. Select Help & Settings
  3. Choose Purchase Controls
  4. Enter your PIN
  5. Choose Require a PIN to purchase or Allow purchases without a PIN

You can hide any adult channels so they won’t appear in the TV Guide or Mini Guide. To hide the channels:

  1. Press Home on the remote
  2. Select Help & Settings
  3. Select Parental Controls
  4. Enter your PIN
  5. Select Hide Adult Channels
  6. Select Hide Adult Channels again

To view an adult channel, you will need to unhide the Adult channels first.

If you lock a channel, a PIN will always be needed to access it. You can lock or unlock as many channels as you like.

To do this:

  1. Press Home on the remote
  2. Select Help & Settings
  3. Choose Parental Controls
  4. Enter your PIN
  5. Select Lock channels
  6. Highlight the channel you want to lock or unlock
  7. Press OK on your TiVo remote
  8. Go to Use these settings
  9. Press OK

If you don’t want to be asked for your PIN when you’re playing a recording from My Shows, you can just switch it off, except for some movies that have 12+ ratings on them.

To do this:

  1. Press Home on the remote
  2. Select Help & Settings
  3. Select Parental Controls
  4. Enter your current PIN
  5. Select Request a PIN to Watch Recordings
  6. Select Do not request a PIN
