Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois fight to be crowned undisputed heavyweight champion. Here’s where and how you can watch their rematch live on DAZN with Virgin Media

Tony Bellew dubbed this fight the rematch he would have “run a mile” from. Having been knocked out by Oleksandr Usyk in the eighth round of their undisputed cruiserweight world title fight in November 2018, Bellew said he had no desire to get back into the ring with the Ukrainian – and anyone who did “deserves a medal”.

But Daniel Dubois is a boxer who’s not only willing to step into the ring once more with the sharp, agile and quick-moving champion they call “The Cat”. After dispatching Anthony Joshua 10 months ago at Wembley Stadium – the same venue as this highly anticipated rematch – Dubois is a man on home territory who thinks he can win.

It sets the stage for a spellbinding fight and with all the major heavyweight titles on the line – including the IBF, which Usyk won but vacated, allowing Dubois to claim it – whoever wins will leave the ring as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

In Dubois’ case, he would become Britain’s first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis – and the first in the four-belt era. For Usyk, it’s the chance to become a third-time undisputed champion. It doesn’t get any bigger than this.

You can watch Usyk v Dubois 2 live on DAZN with Virgin Media, starting at 5.30pm on Saturday 19 July. Read on for everything you need to know ahead of this massive event, including how to order the fight on Virgin TV.

What happened in Oleksandr Usyk v Daniel Dubois 1?

It has been two years since the pair’s first dust-up, which saw Usyk win with a knockout in the ninth round. Even before that, the Ukrainian had outclassed Dubois throughout the fight and was comfortably ahead on the scorecard. But that wasn’t the story of the fight.

More memorable than Usyk’s commanding performance that saw him frustrate his opponent with a mix of smart footwork and consistent jabs was what happened in round five. Midway through the round, Dubois landed a strong right hand to Usyk’s midsection, with Usyk dropping to the canvas – a big moment for a big man who had never been put down since turning professional.

However, that remains the case because referee Luis Pabon ruled it an illegal low blow, and Usyk was given almost four minutes to recover. Naturally, everyone immediately accepted the decision and moved on with their lives, never to mention it again. Except they didn’t and it has dominated the conversation ever since.

In the build-up to this rematch, Dubois’ coach Don Charles said Usyk “conned” the ref with his reaction to the punch that, had it been allowed (as many believe would have been warranted), would have surely turned the tide in the fight. Dubois, meanwhile, has dubbed the shot “like a punch from the Gods”.

While all subsequent appeals were waved away by the governing body, it’s fair to say that the debate has not been settled. So what better way to conclude the discussion than by running it all again?

Except, this time the stakes are even higher: both fighters come into the fight in the form of their lives and history – for whoever wins – is about to be made.

What’s the background to Oleksandr Usyk v Daniel Dubois 2?

Oleksandr Usyk

Since his first pro fight, a win over Felipe Romero on 9 November 2013, Usyk’s record is 23 wins, with 14 knockouts and zero defeats, claiming world titles at both cruiserweight and heavyweight. It’s made doubly impressive by the men who have tried to stop him – Joshua (twice), Dubois, Derek Chisora and, as we said upfront, Tony Bellew.

But it was his two fights against Tyson Fury since beating Dubois that cemented Usyk’s name among boxing’s greats.

Their first fight on 18 May 2024, which Usyk won on by a split decision, was a fascinating bout and a first career defeat for Fury. Many pundits believed Usyk had been robbed of a win by technical knockout in the ninth round – but regardless, Usyk ended up as the first new undisputed heavyweight champion in 24 years.

Usyk defeated Fury for a second time and retained his unified heavyweight world titles on 21 December 2024. While Fury found success in the first half of the fight, this time it was a unanimous decision with all three judges scoring it 116-112 in Usyk’s favour.

Usyk has very little to prove in this sport and retirement is on the cards sooner rather than later, but there’s no doubt that his first fight against Dubois remains a score to be settled, a small question mark against the great’s legacy. Now is the time to settle it…

Daniel Dubois

History is littered with fighters who have crumbled after such significant blows to their careers as Dubois’ controversial defeat against Usyk. But while others have faltered, Dubois has only got stronger in the three fights since that night in Wrocław, Poland.

He fought on the undercard in the “Day Of Reckoning” in December 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he took on the previously undefeated American Jarrell Miller. With just 10 seconds left in the final round, he produced a series of powerful blows that led the referee to step in and stop the fight. “Last gasp” is an understatement.

Dubois’s next fight against Filip Hrgović was dubbed the “fight of his career”, and he ended the Croat’s unbeaten run in the eighth round in Riyadh to claim the IBF world title. He landed a series of huge right hands and almost concluded the contest at the end of the seventh round before the doctor adjudged that Hrgović wasn’t fit to continue.

That set up a mouthwatering Wembley date against Anthony Joshua, with both men coming off two comeback victories after losing to Usyk. Although he was the champ, Dubois relished the underdog tag in this fight and defeated AJ by KO in the fifth round.

It was a dominant performance that perhaps justifies Dubois’ buoyancy coming into his rematch against Usyk. He knocked Joshua to the canvas in the first and third rounds, before Joshua hit the deck twice more in the fourth and once again in the fifth, where the fight was called after 59 seconds.

Dubois now brings his IBF heavyweight title into this revenge bout against Usyk. Can he complete a comeback story that began two years ago against his fiercest rival and a man looking to end his career undefeated?

Whether you yell it like Michael McIntyre (“Hello Wembley!”) or elongate it like a football fan (“Wem-ber-ley), the fight will be held at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.

Normally associated with football and gigs, it has held some memorable fights, like 2024’s Joshua v Dubois contest, where Dubois retained his IBF title in front of a stadium record 98,128 fans.

The old Wembley Stadium also famously saw Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali) take on Henry Cooper in 1963 in front of 35,000 spectators. While Ali took the victory, the bout is remembered for being one of just four fights in which Ali was officially knocked down in the ring by his opponent.

This 12-round clash for the right to be crowned undisputed heavyweight champion of the world will take place on Saturday 19 July 2025.

You can watch coverage from 5.30pm with the first undercard fight scheduled to begin at around 5.40pm. Usyk vs Dubois are expected to take their ringwalks at around 9.50pm.

The full fight card is still being put together, but there are two tasty-looking fights that have been confirmed.

Lawrence Okolie, who has held world championships in two weight classes, continues to make moves in the heavyweight division. The British boxer defends his WBC silver heavyweight title against South African and former world champion Kevin Lerena.

Unbeaten British fighter Lewis Edmondson has held the British and Commonwealth light-heavyweight titles since October last year. He has a chance of intercontinental honours as he fights Ukrainian Daniel Lapin.
