What can Voice Control do?
With Voice Control on our Stream and Virgin TV 360 box, you can search, switch channels, open apps, and control your viewing just by speaking into your remote. Simply hit the mic button on our telly remote and tell your box what to do.
Voice Control works across both our Stream and Virgin TV 360 boxes, although some features may vary slightly depending on which box you’ve got.
Voice control helps you find what you want faster across live TV, box sets, On Demand and apps. You can also change channels or rewind to catch that epic moment one more time. There are so many functions and useful tools available just by talking to. Have a play around and see how it responds to your commands. But here are some useful ones you might want to give a go at first:
How to activate Voice Control
Using Voice Control on our Stream or Virgin TV 360 box is quick and easy. All you need is your Virgin TV remote, and you’re ready to start speaking.
1. Press the microphone button:
Press and hold the mic button on your Virgin TV remote to activate Voice Control. You’ll usually find it near the top of the remote, marked with a microphone icon.
Can’t spot the mic button? Look for the button with a small microphone symbol – it’s designed to be easy to find so you can start using voice commands straight away.

2. Say your command:
While holding the mic button, say what you want to do – whether that’s opening an app, finding a show or changing the channel. Speak clearly and naturally for the best results.
3. Release and watch it happen:
Let go of the mic button once you’ve finished speaking, and your TV will carry out your command in seconds.
Tip: You don’t need to learn set phrases – just say what you want, like “Open Netflix” or “Find comedy films”, and your TV will do the rest.
How to use Voice Control
Voice Control makes it quick and easy to find what you want to watch, switch channels and explore new content – all without scrolling or typing. Here are some simple commands to help you get started.
Open apps with your voice
Whether you want to get stuck into a series on Netflix, or rent a film on Store, to open an integrated app, hold the mic button and say its name.
Try saying: “iPlayer” to go to BBC iPlayer
Try saying: “Box Sets” to go to On Demand
Try saying: “VM Store” to go to the Virgin Media Store
Change channels instantly
It’s easy to find your favourite channels in the Guide. But if you know Bake Off is about to start on Channel 4, just below the channel’s name.
Try saying: “Channel 4 plus one” to go to Channel +1
Try saying: “TNT Sports” to go to TNT Sports 1 HD
Try saying: “Cartoon network” to go to Cartoon Network HD
Search for specific shows, films or actors
If you’re looking for your favourite TV show or film, use your voice. If it’s on TV, in On Demand, Catch Up, or one of your integrated apps, we’ll find it for you.
Try saying: “Taskmaster” to find Taskmaster
Try saying: “Ben Fogle” to find shows featuring Ben Fogle
Try saying: “Mean Girls” to find Mean Girls
Browse by your favourite genre
If you’re on the hunt to keep your kids entertained (say: “Kids’ shows”), or you need some speed (say: “Formula One”), there’s a genre for everyone.

Get info about what you're watching
Not sure what’s going on? We’ll do our best to help you out if you hold the mic button and ask for “Information”. Unless it’s Line of Duty. You’re on your own there.

Turn on subtitles or audio description
Accessibility settings are easy to control with your voice. You can use the Context button on your remote, or try saying some of these.
