Showgirls
)
Sunday 15 March, 10pm, Virgin TV Ultra HD (CH 175/999)
A tale of sex, sequins and social climbing, 1995’s Showgirls was denounced as one of the worst films ever made on its release. But it didn’t take long to earn a reappraisal, as audiences and critics began to appreciate it for the outrageous, camp trash its creators intended it to be. Nomi (Elizabeth Berkley) arrives in Las Vegas with dreams of making it as a showgirl, but gets drawn into a seedy world of stripping, violence and exploitation. Those sequins look extra shiny in ultra HD. Also starring Gina Gershon (The Assassin) and Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), eye-opening might be the best word for it.
Malika Leopard Huntress
Wednesday 18 March, 7.20pm, Virgin TV Ultra HD (CH 175/999)
Meet Malika – a leopardess who faces one of the toughest challenges alone in the wild. Journey along with Malika as she embarks on a new path following a brutal confrontation with another leopard and the death of her cub, which sees her rely on all her cunning and courage to outsmart her enemies and regain her throne as queen of Africa’s Luangwa River. Shot in stunning 4K film, it’s narrated by Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve).

Enter the wild world of Grit in this astonishing documentary from seasoned nature film-maker Graeme Duane, narrated by Graham McTavish (The Witcher). Statistically only four of every 10 honey badgers leaving their mother’s care to stand on their own paws survive the first few weeks, and this young honey badger is looking to beat the odds. Join the adventure as Grit battles his way through hostile environments and deadly predators to find his place in the Namibian savannah.
Blood Simple
Sunday 22 March, 9.30pm, Virgin TV Ultra HD (CH 175/999)
The Coen Brothers – the genius film-makers behind Fargo, No Country For Old Men and countless acclaimed and award-laden movies – announced their arrival in 1985 with this atmospheric noir thriller. A bar owner hires a private investigator to check up on his wife’s fidelity, and when he discovers her affair, orders the PI to deal with it for good. But as Coens fans will know, crime is never the easy way in their movies, especially when there’s money involved. And bloodstains are hard to shift… Smart and stylish, it’s a genuine classic of the genre, starring future multi-Oscar winner Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Dan Hedaya (The Usual Suspects) and M Emmet Walsh (Knives Out).
Foals: Rip Up The Road
Saturday 28 March, 11pm, Virgin TV Ultra HD (CH 175/999)
Over their 20-year tenure, Foals have managed to secure countless hits, a BRIT award and seven studio albums (with another rumoured to be on its way this year).
