Super sporting action!

With the new season ready for lift off, here are five reasons why you should tune into Super League

Question: do you want your world rocked by one of sport’s most intense competitions?

Warrington Wolves v Leeds Rhinos, Thursday 1 February, 7pm, Sky Sports Arena/HD (CH 518/508) + Sky Sports Main Event/HD (CH 511/501)

If your answer is yes, you’ll be delighted to know that the brand new Super League season is primed and ready to deliver bags of high-octane action.

Dedicated fans won’t need any convincing that the new season is worth watching, but you might. Wondering what all the fuss is about? With Warrington Wolves and defending champions Leeds Rhinos kicking things off live on Sky Sports this week, we’ve got five super reasons why Super League is so unmissable…

1. The hard-hitting action

If you like your sport to be of the high-impact variety, Super League will be right up your street. Bone-crunching tackles and earth-shuddering hits are an integral part of the rugby league fabric – and the great thing is that you can enjoy it all from the comfort of your sofa, as men weighing 15 stone smash into each other. Result!

2. The stars

You want elite (and outrageously ripped) athletes producing jaw-dropping moments each and every week? Super League has them by the bucketload. From top British talent to overseas sensations and the headline-makers of tomorrow, this competition is positively heaving with incredible players.

3. There are loads of games live on the box

Sky Sports is the home of Super League, with 80 live games to be shown this season. All 12 teams will be on the box during the opening month of the new campaign, and with magazine show Super League Full Time getting fans bang up to speed with the big stories on and off the pitch every week, you couldn’t be in safer hands.

4. Magic Weekend

No smoke and mirrors here, just one awesome weekend of drama. Every team plays across two days of frantic action at St James’ Park in Newcastle, with all six matches live on the telly. Starting on 19 May, think of it as a festival celebrating all things Super League.

5. The Grand Final

At the end of each Super League season, the top four teams in the table enter the playoffs. From here, the two sides that win their semi-finals battle it out in the Grand Final at Old Trafford. As show-stopping sporting occasions go, it’s up there with anything else you’ll find in the UK. And this winner-takes-all showdown is usually served with a big dollop of drama and controversy.
