The build-up to the Ashes was pretty fiery, with wind-ups flying in both directions, and taking a turn for the bizarre on occasion (Steve Smith referencing Monty Panesar’s Celebrity Mastermind performance was an eye-opener). But that was nothing compared to the opening day of the series itself, when 19 wickets fell at the Perth Stadium. And there’s plenty more excitement where that came from with the whole series live on TNT Sports.
As ever, there’s tons of live football too, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Serie A and more, as well as live rugby union from the PREM and Women’s Premiership. On top of that, there’s UFC, snooker, motorsport, winter sports and more, so don;t miss any of this top-night sporting action on TNT Sports – scroll down to find your comprehensive guide to the month ahead.

Cricket: The Ashes
)
The pre-match previews were dominated by talk of the enduring class in both sides’ batting line-ups but it was the bowlers who ended up on top in an extraordinary first Ashes Test in Perth. First Mitchell Starc ran through the England side with seven first-innings wickets, before Ben Stokes – ably supported by Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse – hit back. Then England’s batters fell to the depleted Aussie attack once again, which meant 30 wickets in the match’s first five sessions. Finally Travis Head stepped up to smash a century and win the Test within two days.
It was astonishing, seat-of-the-pants stuff, the like of which we’ve rarely seen in Test cricket. Next up it’s on to Brisbane, where another two-day finish is unlikely (although let’s face it, not impossible), but entertainment is virtually guaranteed given what’s already happened, and then the third Test is in Adelaide. With the action from Down Under taking place through the night UK time, please do make sure you’re getting enough sleep. We’re just kidding – as long as you’re gripped by the incredible sporting action, who needs rest?! (There are daily highlights on TNT Sports during the Tests, though, just FYI.)
Looking ahead, the fourth Test starts late on Christmas Day at the MCG, with Sydney hosting the fifth and final match from Saturday 3 January.

Cricket: Internationals
The Ashes are dominating the headlines but there’s plenty more cricket going on in the subcontinent and southern hemisphere. After South Africa triumphed in the first Test in Kolkata – a low-scoring affair that ended halfway through day three – they face India in another five-day match as well as ODIs and T20s, where both sides’ batters have something to prove. Meanwhile, West Indies are touring New Zealand and having lost both the T20 and ODI series, they have three Tests to redress the balance, starting on 1 December in Christchurch. Some careful planning might be needed but we’re confident you can fit in all this cricket action alongside the Australia-England matches. And all the rest of the live sport.

Football: Premier League
Pace-setters Arsenal have two Premier League clashes live on TNT Sports this month, first at Villa Park and then at home to Wolves. It’s not an original observation but these are the types of games the Gunners have sometimes made hard work of in recent seasons. However, the 2025/26 squad looks to be made of sterner stuff, and the summer’s acquisitions – not just headliners like Viktor Gyökeres and Eberechi Eze but the lesser-sung likes of Christian Nørgaard and Piero Hincapié – have allowed them to take injuries in their stride.
Still, Aston Villa at their best are a match for anyone, and Wolves – whose performances have been slightly better than their lowly position indicates – should get a boost from the appointment of a new manager in Rob Edwards. Ahead of those key clashes, you can see an unpredictable match-up when Crystal Palace host Man Utd in a rare Sunday lunchtime kick-off.

Football: UEFA Champions League
)
After four rounds, all six English clubs had established themselves in the top 12 of the 36-team Champions League and looked well placed to qualify for the next stage. But it’s still only halfway through, and there’s plenty of football to be played between now and January – with lots of it live on TNT Sports, which shows multiple live games every matchday. Man City appear to have rediscovered their European mojo with confident wins over Napoli, Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund, but tricky tests lie ahead: trips to the Santiago Bernabeu and the Arctic Circle.
Arsenal’s progress has been serene so far but they won’t be taking the visit of Harry Kane’s Bayern lightly. The Germans have been in irresistible form this season and Kane has 15 goals in 21 appearances against the Gunners. Other eye-catching ties on TNT Sports this month include Tottenham’s trip to Paris for a re-run of the UEFA Super Cup final, and Newcastle’s visit to the south of France to take on an unpredictable Marseille coached by former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Football: UEFA Europa League
The season isn’t getting any easier for Celtic, who face a tough trip to Feyenoord and then host Serie A contenders Roma, who are among the favourites for this competition. Perhaps the appointment of a permanent manager – maybe interim boss Martin O’Neill, maybe the hotly tipped Wilfried Nancy, maybe someone else – could stabilise them and help improve results. A result in Rotterdam would be a great start.
Elsewhere this month, Aston Villa face two Swiss opponents in Young Boys and Basel, while Nottingham Forest host Malmö and then, like Celtic, head to the Netherlands. Rangers are at home to Portuguese side Braga (who have already won in Glasgow this season, 2-0 over Celtic) and then travel to Budapest for a difficult match against in-form Ferencvarós, coached by… former Celtic forward Robbie Keane.

Football: UEFA Conference League
After a rocky start to their Conference League adventure, Aberdeen picked up their first point with a draw in Larnaca and will aim for three more when they host Armenian side Noah, who finished 31st in the league table last year with a solitary win. Then it’s the more daunting prospect of Strasbourg: coached by the highly rated Liam Rosenior, they’re challenging at the top of Ligue 1 and have former England defender Ben Chilwell in their ranks.
Before that, Strasbourg host Crystal Palace, who are frankly having a weird one in this competition. They followed an ultra-professional 2-0 win away to Dynamo Kyiv with an inexplicable home defeat to Larnaca, before turning on the style again to see off AZ Alkmaar. After Strasbourg, it’s an intriguing trip to Ireland to face Shelbourne, who are having to borrow the ground of Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers for their European games. The Shels kept things tight in the early stages, conceding just two goals in three games, so it may not be easy for Palace.

Football: FA Cup Round 2
There will definitely be a sixth-tier team in the FA Cup third round after Slough Town and Macclesfield Town were drawn together in the second, a match you can watch live on TNT Sports on 7 December. With both teams knowing they’re just 90 minutes away from a tantalising potential tie against one of the – as tradition dictates we must call them – big boys, there’s no doubt this will be a rare old battle.
There are plenty of non-league sides with home advantage who will have high hopes of progressing, including Sutton, Gateshead and Brackley, while National League high flyers Boreham Wood (who reached the fifth round in 2021/22) will certainly fancy their chances when they host League Two basement dwellers Newport. Mark Hughes’s Carlisle, also challenging at the top of the National League, travel to Blackpool. All these games and more are live on TNT Sports over one cracking weekend of FA Cup action.

Football: Serie A
)
Finishing runners-up in Serie A and the Champions League last season wasn’t enough to keep Inter boss Simone Inzaghi in a job, and he was off to the Saudi league at the end of the season. Cristian Chivu arrived from Parma and has taken the nerazzurri to the top of the league table, so that seems to be working out. More surprising perhaps is that Roma have kept pace with the Milanese giants, coming off a season in which they were dangerously close to the relegation places well into autumn, albeit recovering well to finish fifth.
Appointing Gian Piero Gasperini as coach was seen as a risk: despite the success he achieved with Genoa and Atalanta, a poor spell at Inter in 2011 had left many with the impression that he wasn’t cut out for big club management. But with comfortably the best defence in the division, built around Evan Ndicka and Gianluca Mancini, and mercurial Argentine forward Paulo Dybala staying fit, their scudetto challenge looks real. This month you can see them against champions Napoli, who have also started well despite their troubles in the Champions League. There’s live Serie A action each weekend on TNT Sports.

Football: Men’s A-League
After Auckland’s excellent debut season in the Men’s A-League finished in semi-final defeat, coach Steve Corica won’t need to worry about motivating his players to go further this year. And their start to 2025/26 demonstrated just that, with wins against Adelaide, Western Sydney and rivals Wellington taking them to the top of the A-League ladder in the early stages. The loss of Alex Paulsen, far and away the league’s best keeper last season, to parent club Bournemouth was a blow but one the New Zealanders softened by signing former Aberdeen, Plymouth and Barnsley striker Sam Cosgrove.
Champions Melbourne City began with two wins and two draws and look dangerous as ever, with new signing Takeshi Kanamori already making his mark – although we’re particularly taken with youth product Beckham Baker, an energetic midfielder who’s an exciting prospect and simultaneously makes us feel very old. Look out for live Men’s A-League coverage every weekend of the season on TNT Sports.

Football: Women’s A-League
)
What’s going on in Brisbane? Its teams are current champions in both men’s and women’s NRL and the men’s AFL, with the women’s AFL team also going well (see below). That’s evidently inspired the women’s A-League team, the Roar, who got off to a great start this season. A come-from-behind win over Melbourne Victory was particularly satisfying, with goals from Dutch forward Bente Jansen and veteran Aussie international Tameka Yallop, and they followed it with a hard-fought away victory over Perth, with Jansen on the scoresheet again.
This month you can see their match against Newcastle Jets live on TNT Sports, alongside extensive coverage of the league every weekend. There’s a long way to go but the signs are good for the team from this sporting hotbed – which is also getting ready to host the Olympics and Paralympics in 2032.

Rugby Union: Autumn Nations Series
The final match in the Autumn Nations Series brings the mighty Springboks to Cardiff. There they’ll face a Wales team who haven’t had a great 2025, finishing last in the Six Nations, losing to Japan for the first time and conceding 52 points against Argentina at the Principality Stadium. A year ago, South Africa inflicted a 45-12 defeat on Wales, and the Rugby Championship holders have arguably only got stronger since. If Wales can get a result, it’ll give them a real boost – but it’s a tough ask. Tune in to TNT Sports for the action on 29 November.

Rugby Union: PREM Rugby
)
The top flight of men’s rugby in England has had its tribulations over the past few years but you can’t fault its competitiveness, with six different champions in the past six years. And just a few weeks into the new season it’s already looking like it will be another closely fought campaign: Northampton led the way after five games but Bath, Exeter, Saracens, Leicester and Bristol had all put in some impressive performances and weren’t far behind.
This month Leicester go to rock-bottom Newcastle for a Friday night match, a great opportunity for the Tigers to boost their title challenge, while Bristol entertain leaders Northampton. Saracens and Bath also face off on what could be a significant weekend for the PREM table. The next fixtures are on the weekend before Christmas.

Rugby Union: Premiership Women’s Rugby
Champions Gloucester-Hartpury started the new season at full tilt, crushing last season’s runners-up Saracens 40-14, and proceeded to beat Exeter, Harlequins and Sale while racking up 24 tries. Bristol and Trailfinders are their upcoming opponents, with both games live on TNT Sports, and the onus is on them not to be lambs to the slaughter in the face of Gloucester’s power.
So who could challenge the dominant side in English women’s club rugby? Saracens bounced back from that early defeat by thrashing Harlequins and Leicester, while Exeter have also looked good when not facing Gloucester. The two meet at Sandy Park on 13 December in a match that might indicate who has the stronger credentials.

Motorsport: Rallying
)
It could hardly be closer as the teams head to the final event of the 2025 World Rally Championship. After finishing second in four consecutive rallies, the British duo of driver Elfyn Evans and co-driver Scott Martin are three points ahead of Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais; the French pair may have won three of those four events, but a disastrously uneven performance in the Central European Rally meant they took just 10 points there to Evans and Martin’s 25.
So all the British team need to do is stay ahead of their French rivals to claim what would be their first world title – and even if they don’t, the prize could still be theirs, depending on how the points fall. Meanwhile Kalle Rovanperä, who could in theory still win the title alongside Jonne Halttunen, will compete in his final WRC event – and doubtless be fired up to leave on a high. Could he be the spanner in the works? It’s finely poised and no mistake. Don’t miss full live coverage from Saudi Arabia on TNT Sports.

MMA: UFC
Bantamweight is a division that hasn’t always got its fair share of attention in the UFC, but that’s changed since the rise of Merab Dvalishvili. It was at UFC 306 in September 2024 when the Georgian-born fighter first claimed the championship with a win over Sean O’Malley by unanimous decision. Since then he’s been imperious, scoring Performance of the Night when he defended his title against O’Malley’s renewed challenge at UFC 316, as well as seeing off Umar Nurmagomedov and Cory Sandhagen – and if he can defeat Petr Yan in Las Vegas this month, he’ll become the first UFC fighter to defend a title four times in a calendar year. Impressive stuff. Also on the bill, flyweight champ Alexandre Pantoja will mount the fifth defence of his belt when he faces Joshua Van.
The following weekend, the final UFC event of the year is headlined by another flyweight bout, with Brandon Royval taking on Manel Kape, a fight that’s had to be rescheduled twice. Also on the bill are a featherweight bout between Giga Chikadze and Kevin Vallejos and a strawweight battle between Amanda Lemos and Gillian Robertson. Enjoy all the action on TNT Sports.

For the third year in a row, the AFLW Grand Final will be contested by North Melbourne and Brisbane Lions. And although the two have shared the spoils previously – Brisbane were premiers in 2023, North Melbourne in 2024 – the Kangaroos must be overwhelming favourites this time around, having completed a perfect season and set a league record for consecutive wins. They also had four players in the AFLW team of the season (more than any other team) with Jasmine Garner named captain and Ash Riddell given the coveted Best and Fairest Award.
Can the Lions stop this juggernaut at Melbourne’s Princes Park and put maroon ribbons on the trophy instead of royal blue? All the climactic action is live on TNT Sports.

Snooker
York’s Barbican once again hosts the UK Championship, one of the most prestigious competitions in snooker, which is a year away from its 50th staging. Judd Trump is the defending champion, and there are plenty of other former winners still among the seeds who’ll think they have a chance of claiming the 2025 title including Ding Junhui, Mark WIlliams, Mark Allen, Zhao Xintong and John Higgins. However, as ever, the main intrigue lies in which version of eight-time champ Ronnie O’Sullivan will turn up for the tournament. Fully focused, eyes on the prize Ronnie? Or crash out early and probably throw his cue in the river or something Ronnie? Either way, we can’t wait to find out.

The Great Britain team led by Sir Ben Ainslie had a great start to the SailGP season, but some indifferent performances in the US events meant that rivals New Zealand, Australia and reigning champs Spain were able to reel in their lead. But second place on home waters revitalised their campaign and after wins in France and Spain, they’re ahead of the pack going into the final event of 2025 in Abu Dhabi. Can they stay out in front over two days of exciting racing? Anything could happen in the Arabian Gulf, so tune in to TNT Sports.

Winter Sports
The season of snow is upon us, and that means the 2025/26 snow sports competitions are getting under way in the mountainous regions of the world. This month, there’s ski jumping and biathlon from Sweden, alpine skiing from the US, and Nordic combined and cross-country skiing from Finland. The latter country is also the host of the European Curling Championships, where you can follow the progress of the Scotland men’s and women’s teams all the way (hopefully) to the finals on 29 November. Scotland are the most successful country in the history of the men’s tournament with 16 championships, including a hat-trick between 2021 and 2023; they’ll be keen to reclaim the trophy won by Germany last year. In the women’s competition, 21-time champs Sweden are usually the team to beat. Keep up to date with the chilly action on TNT Sports.
