Discover the key filming locations of The Inbetweeners

Running for three seasons, two feature films and one very controversial reunion special, The Inbetweeners was a rude, crude and hilarious look at teenage life. The E4 series starred Simon Bird (Will), Joe Thomas (Simon), Blake Harrison (Neil) and James Buckley (Jay) as four misfit students at Rudge Park Comprehensive School. Viewers and critics alike love The Inbetweeners for its painfully accurate depiction of the awkwardness of adolescence.

Filmed in London and across Southern England, The Inbetweeners excelled at creating the authentic feel of the suburban sixth-form experience. The two feature films were set in Malia, Crete, and Western Australia respectively.

The Inbetweeners filming locations: Ruislip High School, Hillingdon

The dysfunctional heart of The Inbetweeners is Rudge Park Comprehensive. The external shots at Rudge Park are of Ruislip High School in the London Borough of Hillingdon. This secondary comprehensive school opened in 2006, just two years before The Inbetweeners began. Its distinctive modern design will be instantly recognisable to all fans of the series.

The Inbetweeners filming locations: Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire

The village of Abbots Langley, north of Watford, is a crucial location for The Inbetweeners. The house where hapless hero/narrator Will lives with his mother is in Whitley Close. Jay’s family home is in Cardiff Way, while both Neil and Simon live on Edinburgh Drive. Meanwhile, the famous flower-golf scene, where the lagered-up boys knock the heads off daffodils with a golf club, was filmed in the garden of a house in Abbey Drive.

The Inbetweeners filming locations: Thorpe Park, Surrey

There are plenty of questionable hijinks in episode three of The Inbetweeners season one when Will uses his brand-new drivers’ licence to take his friends to Thorpe Park. This Surrey amusement park is famous for its rollercoasters. It’s hugely popular with students and young people as well as families. Be warned, there’s a particularly appalling moment on the volcano-themed Nemesis Inferno roller coaster.

The Inbetweeners filming locations: Littlehampton, West Sussex

Season two of The Inbetweeners opens with a characteristically eventful field trip to Swanage on the Dorset coast. However, this episode was actually filmed in the West Sussex resort of Littlehampton, between Brighton and Bognor Regis. Sex-mad Jay propositions an ice-cream seller, and the four friends almost get lost at sea and have to be rescued by Littlehampton’s own RNLI crew. Just another day for the Inbetweeners.

The Inbetweeners filming locations: intu Uxbridge, Uxbridge High Street

The third episode of The Inbetweeners season three brings detention for Neil and Jay. The boys run into trouble with sardonic teacher Mr Gilbert (Greg Davies) after spotting him at the local shopping centre. That scene was filmed at the intu shopping centre on Uxbridge High Street.

The Inbetweeners filming locations: Pippingford Park, East Sussex

The final season of The Inbetweeners ends in classic style with the four friends embarking on a camping trip to mark the end of their school days together. Needless to say, none of them is equipped to cope with outdoor life, and the trip ends in disaster. This episode was filmed at the Pippingford estate in Ashdown Forest, East Sussex. Pippingford is very popular with film crews. You might recognise it from The Cazalet Chronicles, Band of Brothers or even Top Gear.
