The countdown is on. Gamers around the world have been waiting patiently for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 since it was first teased earlier this year and now we’re just weeks away from getting our hands on it. The next evolution of the Nintendo Switch brings games to life with a larger 7.9-inch 1080p screen, new design features, Game Chat, magnetically attached Joy-Con 2 controllers, a new dock so you can hook up games to your TV and play in up to 4K resolution, and improved software, visuals and audio for smoother gameplay when the Switch 2 launches on Thursday 5 June. Sweet.
And some of gaming’s biggest franchises are heading to the new platform, from launch game Mario Kart World to Switch 2 Editions of fan favourites The Legend Of Zelda and Sonic X Shadow Generations. Double sweet.
Meanwhile, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Elden Ring Nightreign, Five Nights At Freddy’s: Secret Of The Mimic are just some of the other incredible video games coming your way over the next couple of months.

Here’s all you need to know about the best game releases in May and June 2025…
DOOM: The Dark Ages
Available from Thursday 15 May on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
The prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM saga is here. While players might be used to the Doom Slayer (aka Doomguy) delivering a slew of attacks in fast-paced combat, this edition focuses on a more grounded battle experience – meaning that Doomguy is finally putting those rippling biceps to good use. That doesn’t mean that players don’t get to test out some gnarly new weapons though, such as the aptly named Skull Crusher. Plus, for the first time ever, you can pilot vehicles on the battlefield like a cybernetic dragon or a 30-storey Atlan mech.
Dune: Awakening
Available in three editions from Tuesday 20 May on PC
Can you hear that? It’s the sound of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game heading right for us and it’s taking us straight into the heart of Arrakis – but to an alternative timeline where Paul Atreides was never born. Create your avatar, select your mentor and along with thousands of other players find the missing Fremen to “awake the sleeper”. But surviving this world is no easy task: beware of the dangers that lurk around every corner, from monstrous sandworms to brutal Coriolis storms that cause weekly map refreshes. Top tip: listen to the in-game radio stations for propaganda broadcasts, helpful hints and music from the original Dune games.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown
Available Thursday 22 May on PC
The Ninja Turtles are back and they’re… all grown up?! Following the deaths of Splinter and Shredder, the members of the gang are growing apart – and, worse still, they’re faced with a deadly new enemy in the Foot Clan. Play as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo in their individual action-packed campaigns, engaging in a fast-paced turn-based beat-’em-up battle through 20 mutating levels that are inspired by the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. Cowabunga!
Duck Detective: The Ghost Of Glamping
Available Thursday 22 May on PC
Quack another case wide open in a sequel to the delightful Duck Detective series that lets you step back into the webbed feet of Eugene McQuacklin. This time, you’re called to a luxury campsite where a ghost has reportedly been sighted, and it’s up to you to deduce whether real hauntings are occurring or there’s another type of fowl play afoot… Interview your suspects for motives, scour the crime scene for clues and ruffle some feathers along the way in your quest for the truth.
To A T
Available Wednesday 28 May on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
This little indie gem is an episodic 3D adventure game that’ll hit you right in the feels. Players take on the role of aptly named teenager Teen who has a slightly unusual posture... he’s shaped like the letter T. Play along in this unique story, joined by an adorable canine companion, as you learn how to fit in while helping Teen discover a newfound sense of self. Plus, you can explore Teen’s seaside town by foot, train and unicycle, collect coins to buy Teen some fire threads, and even meet a giraffe that makes the most scrumptious sandwiches around.
Elden Ring Nightreign
Available Friday 30 May on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
From the Elden Ring fantasy world comes this long-awaited standalone survival RPG. Set in a parallel universe and the first open world area of Elden Ring, the three-player co-op game lets you join forces with two trusted companions as you choose a formidable hero from the gigantic Raider to archer Ironeye, and combine your powers to battle your way through the creeping night and all the danger that lies therein to reach the final boss.

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
Available Thursday 5 June on Nintendo Switch 2
Joining the plethora of legendary titles heading for the Nintendo Switch 2 is the BAFTA-winning The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. Players can relive the magic of this open-world adventure as Link, who’s on a one-Hylian mission to rescue the Princess Zelda from Ganondorf. With improved performance and higher resolution to maximise gameplay, get ready to explore the breathtaking environments of Hyrule with Zonai devices that can be used for combat, exploration, solving puzzles and even constructing vehicles.
