What is the Virgin Media Hub 5?

The Hub 5 is Virgin Media’s latest router, built with WiFi 6 technology and seven internal antennas to help deliver stronger, more consistent coverage throughout your home.

Compared with our Hubs 3 and 4, the Hub 5 is designed to work with the fastest broadband speeds, including Gig1, newer devices and the growing demands of modern connected homes: from streaming in 4K and cloud gaming to smart tech and video calls.

What's the difference between the Hub 5 and Hub 5x?

Both Hub 5 and Hub 5x are built for ultrafast, reliable WiFi, but they connect to different broadband networks:

  • Hub 5 works on Virgin Media’s fibre-coax network

You don’t need to choose between them – we'll provide the right Hub based on your broadband connection. And whichever Hub you receive, you’ll get next‑generation WiFi performance designed to support Gigabit broadband speeds.

How the Hub 5 can improve everyday WiFi

In day-to-day use, the Hub 5 helps keep your WiFi running smoothly when lots of devices are connected at the same time. This means:

  • A smoother experience when streaming, gaming or working from home

  • A steady connection across different rooms in your home

The Hub 5 it’s built to support how households use the internet today, with multiple people online at once.

Who can upgrade to the Hub 5?

Virgin Media is gradually rolling out Hub 5 upgrades to selected customers currently using older hubs, including Hub 3 or Hub 4. The upgrade is being offered at no extra cost, with thousands of customers set to benefit throughout 2026.
