It’s a taut thriller based on the acclaimed Don Winslow book of the same name. Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) also stars.

The Smashing Machine

A near-unrecognisable Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle) stars in the true-life story of mixed martial arts and UFC fighter Mark Kerr, who almost lost everything on his way to success. It received critical acclaim but underperformed at the box office, so this is a chance to give a movie that sidesteps so many biopic clichés the attention it deserves. Emily Blunt (The Fall Guy) also stars.

Stefan Golaszewski, the writer behind acclaimed series Him & Her, Mum and Marriage, is back with a powerful love story about a couple whose hope is tested as they endure multiple miscarriages. In Babies, starring Paapa Essiedu (The Capture) and Siobhán Cullen (Bodkin), Golaszewski shows an often untold tale about the heartbreak of pregnancy loss, while also revealing a relationship rich in humour, warmth and unwavering love.
Race Across The World

Series 6 is here, and this time the race to claim the £20,000 prize carves through eight distinctive countries – Italy, Greece, Türkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia – adding up to a journey of more than 12,000km across Europe and Asia. With five pairs fighting it out, who will make it to the end? And with a budget of less than £26 per person per day, nothing is certain.

But it seems that experience did little to change hearts or minds, with the lads back in Cork and slipping back into their old ways very quickly – wreaking havoc everywhere as they make haphazard attempts to improve their lives.

We’re now into series 21 of TV’s most consistently funny show, and by now you know the score. As always, expect weird and wonderful tasks set by “Little” Alex Horne and withering putdowns from Greg Davies. But the true joy is seeing how the chaotic alchemy in the casting plays out. Amy Gledhill, Armando Iannucci, Joanna Page, Joel Dommett and Kumail Nanjiani make up one of the most eclectic groupings yet.

Starring Colin Farrell as The Penguin, this DC Studios drama series continues the epic crime saga that film-maker Matt Reeves began with the blockbuster movie The Batman, and centres on the character played by Farrell in the film. It was nominated for 24 Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards, including wins for both Farrell and his co-star Cristin Milioti.
Chernobyl

This April marks 40 years since Reactor No.4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded. Now, for the first time on Virgin TV, the five-part 2019 drama that tells the story of the disaster and clean-up efforts that followed is available to stream. Starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, Oscar winner Jessie Buckley and the late Paul Ritter, it’s a tough but gripping watch that’s widely regarded as one of the best TV dramas of all time.
