Jackie Brown is good, but is it Tarantino’s best?
Jackie Brown, Thursday 6 September, 9pm, Sony Movie Channel (CH 425)
This week’s telly brings us a treat in the shape of Jackie Brown, one of the finest crime thrillers of the 1990s. Pam Grier (The L Word) plays the eponymous lead, who leads a double life working as an air hostess and smuggler for arms dealer Ordell (Samuel L Jackson).
As FBI agent Ray Nicolette (Michael Keaton) closes in on Ordell and his witless accomplices Louis (Robert De Niro) and Melanie (Bridget Fonda), the pressure begins to build up around Jackie, who must think fast to escape with her liberty and her life.
With edge-of-your-seat bursts of action mixed in with the director’s trademark dialogue scenes (termed “hangout scenes” by the man himself) Jackie Brown is a stone-cold Quentin Tarantino classic.
But is it his best film? Vote for your favourite below and help settle the debate once and for all!
