Live sport on TV this week: 10 – 17 December

You know Christmas is just around the corner when the PDC World Darts Championship gets under way, and this year it’s the biggest competition ever, with the field expanded to 128 players. Darting darling and defending champ Luke Littler will get most of the attention, of course – but the talent pool is huge, guaranteeing another brilliantly entertaining tournament. For the first time it features five women, including Fallon Sherrock – the first woman to win a match at the world champs – and Beau Greaves, one of the few players of either sex to beat Littler last year.

Elsewhere this week (Wednesday 10 to Wednesday 17 December), there’s a packed schedule of football as (almost) always, including Premier League clashes, EFL Cup quarter-finals, the Scottish League Cup final and the crucial final league-stage round in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
