From hat-trick hero Sergio Agüero to another late Tottenham show at Wembley (not to mention a stray cat stealing the show on Merseyside), there was plenty to talk about during another action-packed weekend in the Premier League.

Want to know more about the biggest moments from across the top flight? We’ve cast our eye over the drama to bring you the key moments…

1. Result of the weekend

Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Newcastle United

After key men Harry Kane and Dele Alli both picked up significant injuries in January, many predicted that Tottenham’s title push would falter. How wrong they were. If anything, Mauricio Pochettino’s players have unearthed a new grittiness to their play, as demonstrated by their narrow win over Newcastle at Wembley. Don’t write them off just yet.

2. Goal of the weekend

André Gomes celebrating Everton’s goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers

André Gomes (Everton) v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Everton fans don’t have much to shout about at the moment, but they were able to enjoy a moment of magic during Saturday’s 3-1 loss at home to Wolves. Gomes almost tore the net off with his blistering strike to make it 1-1 after a neat exchange of passes on the edge of the box ended with the midfielder lashing the ball into the top corner.

3. Performance of the weekend

Sergio Agüero (Manchester City) v Arsenal

When you need a big performance in a big game, few players in the Premier League consistently deliver the goods like the Argentine. City’s goal machine was a penalty-box pest against the Gunners, scoring three glorious tap-ins to keep the pressure on Liverpool in this gripping title race.

4. Manager of the weekend

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola celebrating

Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)

You just knew Pep was going to get a match-winning performance out of his players against Arsenal. Following City’s midweek defeat to Newcastle, plenty of column inches were devoted to knocking the champions’ title credentials. Big mistake. Guardiola urged his players to put on a show against Arsenal and that’s exactly what they did, passing the Gunners into submission and scoring three well-worked goals.

5. Pitch invader of the weekend

A cat (Everton v Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Walking around the Goodison Park turf like he owned it, a wayward moggy managed to hold Saturday’s game up for four whole minutes before leaving the field of play. While Everton were none too impressed with the feline intruder, it was all just another part of a purr-fect afternoon for Wolves.
