We’ve teamed up with Carers UK to give unpaid carers a little stocking filler, and find out how you can help support their work

By Virgin TV Edit

Christmas is a time for giving. That’s why we’re bringing you Christmas 48 hours early this year in our incredible prize draw where you can win some sleigh-mazing prizes, including everything from a PlayStation 5 to a VIP holiday to South Africa.

But amid all the festivities and fun, Christmas can also be a challenging time, especially for the country’s unpaid carers. There are more than 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK, with 1 in 7 juggling work and caring. The ongoing pandemic has only made that tougher. For them, just because it’s Christmas, the caring doesn’t stop.

Unpaid carers often find themselves socially isolated and feeling invisible when looking after loved ones. So this year, we’ve teamed up with Carers UK to give unpaid carers a little stocking filler as our way of saying thank you for all you do.

Free films for unpaid carers

Finding time for yourself can be hard as an unpaid carer. But this year we’ve got a little stocking filler for you – enter our movie giveaway for your chance to win a Santastic night in! How else can you support Carers UK?

Every year, more than two million people take on caring responsibilities in the UK. That’s 6,000 new unpaid carers every day.

Carers can be any age, and the care they provide is incredibly diverse: from looking after a disabled child or being responsible for a sick partner, to being there for a parent who is getting older and needing more assistance or supporting a family member or friend with a mental health condition.

Sadly, many don’t recognise that they have taken on a caring role and aren’t aware of the support that is available to them. That’s why the work of Carers UK is so important – they are there for unpaid carers when they most need them.

There are many ways to support Carers UK, whether it’s volunteeringraising money or donating. If you’re buying Christmas presents through Amazon this year, you can nominate Carers UK as your AmazonSmile charity, at no extra cost to you.

If you’d like to donate to Carers UK, you can do so here.
