Counterpart

9pm, Thursday 24 January, Channel 100

JK Simmons (Whiplash) is brilliant in everything, and sci-fi thriller Counterpart is no exception. Here he plays a UN employee who uncovers a gateway to a parallel Earth that’s at war with his own – and where his “other” self is a top spy. Gripping, tense and utterly absorbing, Counterpart is simply unmissable – no matter which parallel world you belong to.

Mr. Mercedes

10pm, Thursday 24 January, Channel 100

Based on the crime novel trilogy of the same name by Stephen King, this series follows retired detective Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson, the Harry Potter series) who is haunted by an unsolved crime. When the psychopath known as Mr Mercedes resurfaces, Hodges soon discovers the criminal he’s chasing will stop at nothing to leave his mark on the world.

Sweetbitter

9pm, Friday 25 January, Channel 100

When New York newbie Tess (Ella Purnell, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children) bags a job at a top restaurant, she’s soon introduced to a chaotic life of liquor, lust and love. Based on the book by Stephanie Danler, it’s partly inspired by the author’s own experience as a waitress in NYC over a seven-year period, and it’s a coming-of-age story like no other.

Vida

9.30pm, Friday 25 January, Channel 100

This critically acclaimed series follows two estranged Mexican-American sisters from LA who are forced to return to their old neighbourhood after they are confronted by the past, as well as the shocking truth about their mother’s identity. Boasting great performances, and with a funny and heart-warming script that ditches stereotypes, you won’t want to miss it.

Wrong Man

10.05pm, Friday 25 January, Channel 100

In the grand tradition of brilliant true crime documentary series, Wrong Man investigates the criminal convictions of people who claim their innocence. These inmates have been locked up for decades but can experts overturn their verdicts? You’ll have to stay tuned to this series from Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated Joe Berlinger to find out…
