What’s Virgin Media Quick Start?

Using a how-to video and clear help guides to upgrade or install your new TV, home phone and broadband service yourself. Virgin Media QuickStart is the free and faster way to get up and running, chosen by 680,000 people in 2020 alone. Everything you need is posted to you. Most QuickStart kits have just 6 cables, connectors and powerlines to plug in, all clearly labelled and colour-coded, so you know what goes where. But if you get stuck, just call the QuickStart helpline for advice (number’s on the kit pack). The expert will talk you through how to self-install or try to get you a free appointment within 48 hours for an engineer to finish the job.

When you’ve plugged in the broadband Hub (5 minutes), TV box and phone cable (20 minutes) – these are included in your QuickStart self-install pack, of course – the boxes take 40 minutes to finish setting themselves up.

You are, if your home’s ever had our services and your wall sockets and cables are in a good condition and location. Use the postcode checker to find out whether QuickStart’s available at your address, but please book an engineer:

  • If your Virgin Media cable’s cut.

  • If your master socket’s the wrong type for QuickStart installation, or your wall sockets are damaged or falling off your wall.

For QuickStart to work for you:

  • Your outdoor socket can’t have metal sticking out through the plastic.

  • Your phone socket wire mustn’t be frayed.

  • Your white, indoor TV and broadband socket has to; be within 3 metres of your broadband Hub, have its silver connector poking out.
