How do I connect to WiFi hotspots?

The Virgin Media Connect app gives Virgin Fibre and Virgin Mobile customers free access to 20m WiFi hotspots in the UK and abroad – including in the USA.

How to use WiFi on the go

  • Just download the Virgin Media Connect app and set it up once. See Signing in to the Virgin Media Connect app for details on how to do this
  • The Virgin Media Connect app will then remember you and automatically connect you to speedy WiFi when you're in range of a WiFi hotspot!

You won’t need to enter usernames or passwords to connect to WiFi. Your phone will do all the work in the background.

If you’re using an Android device, the Connect app takes care of your connection to our WiFi hotspots and will connect you automatically when in range of a good hotspot signal. So please don’t try to connect to our hotspots manually.

How can I tell when I’m in range of a Virgin Media WiFi hotspot?

In the UK

You're in range of a Virgin Media WiFi hotspot in the UK when you can see 'Virgin Media' or '_The Cloud X' in your list of available WiFi networks. At airports, you'll see 'arq_wifi_x'.

When I’m abroad

When connecting abroad you’ll see a range of network names, but will only connect automatically to those set up by the Connect app.

What’s the download limit?

A fair usage policy applies, but our WiFi hotspots are great for sharing photos and keeping in touch on the move.

Does Virgin Media block any content while I'm using a WiFi hotspot on the move?

Yes. Virgin Media has a responsibility to make sure the content available is suitable for young people to access themselves or to look at over someone else's shoulder.

How do I stop my device connecting to the WiFi hotspots?

Android

As soon as you uninstall the Virgin Media Connect app, you'll automatically stop connecting to our WiFi hotspots.

iOS

To stop automatically connecting to our WiFi hotspots, you’ll need to delete the Virgin Media WiFi profile on your device. To do this:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management
  2. Choose the WiFi network profile to remove main Virgin Media WiFi profile
  3. Click Remove Profile

If you opted into More WiFi, you'll also need to remove the More WiFi networks profile.

Automatic WiFi Management on Android

To enhance your WiFi experience, the app may turn on your WiFi if it thinks there's good chance you're in range of a high quality WiFi network it can connect you to.

You can enable or disable this feature by using the Automatic WiFi management toggle in Settings.
