Name a better bank holiday than Easter. We’ll wait…

Easter on Sky Cinema

Some people might call out Christmas as the greatest bank holiday, but they’re wrong (or at least reasonably misguided). Let’s start with the big one – the four-day weekend. Christmas only gives us that once in a while, whereas Easter is a guaranteed four-dayer every single year. It’s GUARANTEED, people!

You can do a lot in four days. You could start work on some flatpack furniture, and even finish it. You could turn your garden from something resembling a Mad Max wasteland into your own little green patch of mindfulness. You could finally finish (and start) that book you’ve had on your shelf since Corsica ’09.

Yes, you could theoretically do all of those things (apart from the flatpack furniture – you’ll clearly need at least another two days for that!). But you could also spend those four days chilling on the sofa with an ever-decreasing mountain of egg-shaped confectionary while catching up on the best of the big screen on your small screen.

Whether you’re looking for something to entertain the kids, your other half, in-laws, friends who have invited themselves over or even just yourself, there are new premieres every day, plus thousands of movies on demand to enjoy at home or on the go. Check out some of our picks, plus a look ahead to what else is coming to Sky Cinema soon…

Incredibles 2

Incredibles 2, available from Saturday 6 April in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG. Also available in HD

The crime-fighting family is back – but this time, Helen (Holly Hunter) is the one in the limelight, meaning Bob (Craig T Nelson) is left at home taking care of the family, including baby Jack-Jack and his developing superpowers. It’s an action-packed family adventure from start to finish.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, available from Easter Sunday in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG. Also available in HD

In a sequel set five years after the smash hit original, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is preparing for the grand reopening of the Hotel Bella Donna, and learns more about her mother’s history – with the action flipping between the present and the past. A jukebox film of unadulterated joy. My my, how can you resist it?

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man And The Wasp, available from Good Friday in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 12A. Also available in HD

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is finishing up his house arrest after the events of Captain America: Civil War. But, when an urgent mission arises, he must team up with Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) to become the titular crime-fighting duo. There’s nothing small about the action, and it’s a must-watch before Avengers: Endgame comes to cinemas on Thursday 25 April.

Christopher Robin

Christopher Robin, available from Friday 12 April in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG. Also available in HD

A heart-warming story that’s part-Paddington and (for those old enough to remember it) part-Hook. Christopher (Ewan McGregor) is now a grown-up who has lost his way, the world of the Hundred Acre Wood forgotten. So, it’s up to his childhood friends (Pooh, Tigger and crew) to help him rediscover himself.

And there are loads more great premieres coming up in May!

The Meg

The Meg, available from Friday 10 May in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 12. Also available in HD

Jason Statham versus a 75ft-long prehistoric megashark is all you need to know about this good old-fashioned creature feature! Need a little more? This is a film in which Statham yells “chew on this” at that same shark. Filled with all the classic monster-movie thrills and spills, plus bombastic action and one-liners to boot.

BlacKKKlansman

BlacKKKlansman, available from Friday 17 May in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 15. Also available in HD

Directed by Spike Lee, the film follows Ron Stallworth (John David Washington), the first African-American police officer to successfully infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. It’s based on a true story, and as the credits roll you’ll be unable to fathom why you’d never heard it before. A truly great piece of cinema.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Mission Impossible: Fallout, available from Friday 24 May in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 12. Also available in HD

Tom Cruise is at it again in the latest adrenalin-pumping instalment of the Mission: Impossible franchise. This time Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and the team must stop multiple nuclear attacks taking place around the globe. Also starring Justice League’s Henry Cavill and co-starring Cavill’s infamous moustache.
