One of cinema’s most iconic monsters, the Predator has been keeping underpants salesmen in business ever since the horrifying alien hunter first crash-landed on our screens in 1987’s biceps-pumping blockbuster. Arnold Schwarzenegger managed to beat the lethal beast the first time around, but that was only the beginning. Three decades (and four sequels and spin-offs) later, the deadly creature is back in The Predator on Sky Cinema.
Directed by Iron Man 3’s Shane Black (who starred as Rick Hawkins in the original Predator), this latest instalment in the franchise is a blood-splattered thrill ride that delivers big on action, terror and killer one-liners. Did you really expect anything less?
After US Army sniper Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) witnesses a Predator slaughtering his platoon, he manages to get his hands on some of its alien hardware to serve as evidence of what happened. But obviously things don’t quite go to plan. Before long, a genetically enhanced Predator arrives on Earth looking to reclaim the tech.
McKenna joins forces with a ragtag team of ex-soldiers (including Thomas Jane, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes and Alfie Allen) and evolutionary biologist Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) in a bid to scupper the beast’s plans. Cue utter carnage and chaos as one of the most feared hunters in the universe goes on the rampage in small-town USA…
