Gather the family for Daddy’s Home 2!

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell team up again for this hit comedy sequel, now on Sky Cinema

It’s round 2 of Wahlberg vs Ferrell, in a sequel that packs in even more comedy punches and co-parenting capers than the original

Daddy’s Home 2, available in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 12. Also available in HD

You probably saw Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell butting heads, motorbikes and biceps in Daddy’s Home, back in 2015. They eventually found some sort of reconciliation, but will their co-parenting partnership last in this side-splitting sequel?

In the first film we met Brad (Ferrell) – husband to Sara (Linda Cardellini) and devoted stepfather to her two children. Then her ex-husband Dusty (Wahlberg) showed up with a plan to drive a wedge between the happy couple and take his family back. But (after many, many bust-ups), Brad and Dusty learned some valuable lessons about parenting and partnership.

However, as this sequel reveals, it’s never quite that simple. As Christmas approaches, the now co-dads decide that both families should spend the holidays together. But things get complicated when Dusty’s cool dad Kurt (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s wholesome father Don (John Lithgow) turn up.

It’s a delightful, silly treat, with Wahlberg reaching some comedic highs and Ferrell going, well, full-on Ferrell. As the weather gets colder, this is a cinematic treat to savour, with heartwarming scenes to warm the soul and enough jokes to have you laughing till Christmas! In need of even more great family entertainment? Sky Cinema has you covered. Check out our pick of the highlights below.

Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Available in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG

Twelve-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) has one heck of a bad day, and later wishes that his busy family members would experience what he’s going through. But when his wish is granted, he has to put things right for everyone, in this deeply charming family comedy.

The Pacifier

Available in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG

US Navy SEAL Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel) is assigned to guard the family of a scientist working on a top-secret government project. But when their nanny quits suddenly, he finds himself taking on new responsibilities, for which he is entirely unprepared. The result is a much more soft-hearted flick than we’re used to seeing from the Fast & Furious star, with a strong message about the need for family members to work together.

Matilda

Available in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG

Danny DeVito directs and stars in this adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic novel about a child prodigy who’s so smart – and so frustrated with her awful family and terrible school – that she develops telekinetic powers. Mara Wilson (Mrs Doubtfire) is fantastic as the plucky young genius, and DeVito is horribly hilarious as her domineering father. It’s pure magic.
