England and European Championship qualifying go together like Gareth Southgate and reasonably priced waistcoats. The Three Lions make reaching the Euros look so easy, they haven’t lost a single match in their previous two campaigns, winning every game on their way to Euro 2016. And as the 2020 tournament looms, they’ve got off to a flyer this time around as well.
Southgate’s side couldn’t have enjoyed a better start on their quest to reach next year’s competition, with a 5-0 win over the Czech Republic and a 5-1 victory against Montenegro coming in their first two fixtures. Talk about emphatic.
Now it’s time for a fresh challenge, as the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Marcus Rashford return to action live on ITV. Up first is a matchup with Bulgaria, who travel to Wembley Stadium having picked up just two points from their opening four games.
Then the team head to Southampton for another home match against Kosovo, a team England have never played before, and one that’s unbeaten so far in qualifying thanks to a win and two draws. The form guide points to two victories for England, but can they deliver the goods in front of expectant home crowds?
