And to help keep things ticking over, you get Intelligent WiFi service included and we’ll provide up to three signal-boosting mesh WiFi Pods (if they’re required) to extend your network – at no extra cost with our Gigabit Fibre Broadband and Volt packages. You can also add WiFi Max to our M50 to M500 Fibre Broadband packs (without Volt) for £8 a month, with your first WiFi Pod provided automatically.

What are WiFi Pods?

A core part of our WiFi Max service, these easy-to-use mesh pods help to extend and strengthen the WiFi signal throughout your home, even stretching to those tricky-to-reach, low-coverage areas. They help you get the best out of your existing broadband package by using mesh WiFi technology instead of electrical wiring.


Along with your wireless broadband Hub, they’ll give the strongest possible connection to multiple devices without compromising on performance. So whether you’re streaming your favourite shows or browsing social media, they’ll deliver a fast and stable connection to mobiles, laptops, gaming devices and more, meaning that no one in the family has to compromise on their tech time. Win win.


How do they work?

WiFi Pods create a single WiFi “bubble” that covers your whole home and automatically sorts out any issues, thanks to clever cloud technology. Each WiFi Pod has a new roaming feature which monitors WiFi signal around your home and measures how busy each point gets at certain times – so they’ll always choose the best connection for your devices. Fancy!


The WiFi Pods also change settings to stop interferences automatically, such as from your neighbour’s WiFi. You’ll also need to disconnect any existing WiFi boosters to help reduce the WiFi traffic in your home. WiFi Pods are a brilliant and affordable solution for combatting wireless signal dead zones around your home, delivering a strong connection to every nook and cranny.

How do I control my WiFi pods?

It’s easy-peasy. With our Connect app, you can monitor the activity of multiple WiFi Pods at the tip of your fingers. See their signal strength, know which of your devices are connected to each one, get troubleshooting tips and much more. You can even use the app to determine if you need a WiFi Pod for your home as well as pause WiFi to any of your devices when required. Now that’s what we call smart technology.


How do I get an extra WiFi pod for my home?

If you’ve got a mesh WiFi Pod, but your download speeds are still lower than 30Mbps in every room, you’ll be eligible for up to two additional mesh WiFi Pods. If you need a second or third mesh WiFi Pod, sign in to My Virgin Media here, click on Your Package and follow the steps in the WiFi Max tab.

Having trouble with your signal?

The positioning of your WiFi Pods is just as important as the positioning of your Hub or router. Your home’s size and layout, as well as various devices, appliances and materials, can all interfere with your WiFi Pods’ signal. You should avoid placing them behind furniture, near electronic-emitting appliances such as microwaves, on extension leads and close to the floor. Instead, install them where they can perform at their best: out in the open, as high as possible and away from other tech devices.
