30 LOL-worthy Lip Sync Battle moments

As the series returns for season 5 on Comedy Central, we revisit the best celebrity performances

The time has come for you to lip-sync for your life. Oh wait, wrong show…

Tuesday 27 August, 10pm, Comedy Central/HD (CH 132/181). Also available for 7 days in Catch Up > Channels > Comedy Central

When talk show host Jimmy Fallon began featuring a recurring bit on The Tonight Show where he faced off against celebrities in lip-sync battles, it quickly became clear that the formula was a winning one. Stephen Merchant (The Office UK) and John Krasinski (The Office US) raised the stakes; turning the idea into a television show in its own right.

Now in its fifth season, Lip Sync Battle is bigger, crazier and more theatrical than ever.

In each episode, celebrities go head to head, lip-synching two songs of their choosing. They typically keep things pretty low key in the beginning; wearing understated clothing and backed by no-frills stage dressing. However, when they deliver their final numbers, they go HARD, with fully choregraphed routines, spectacular sets and lavish costumes inspired by the singer or song.

Season 5 shows another series of celebrities at their showstopping best, including Serena Williams, Queer Eye’s Fab Five, Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri and even Big Bird! But don’t just take our word for it, read on for our GIF breakdown of 30 of the best Lip Sync Battle moments, which includes highlights from the upcoming season, plus links to the full routines!
