According to a crack team of boffins (and definitely not a group of marketing people), the third Monday in January is thought to be the most depressing day of the year. These 24 hours of dread, despair and dismay even have a name: Blue Monday.
Yes, it’s pseudoscience built on laughably flimsy mathematics, but just think about it for a second. Christmas is over, a whole year stretches out in front of you like a terrifying highway, the weather sucks and all you have in your bank account is tumbleweed. But, as this year’s Blue Monday on 20 January approaches, we know just the thing to perk you up. And it’s not another kale, cucumber and broccoli smoothie.
