It was said, “art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” But with so many dedicated arts venues closed for the foreseeable, we have been unable to do either. Thankfully, Sky Arts (CH 123) – the UK’s only channel dedicated to the arts and culture – is now available to everyone, at no extra cost.

You’ll be able to enjoy a raft of programming celebrating music, culture and performance, while giving a platform to the artists, creatives and organisations who have been so badly hit during the past few months. And if you’re a Maxit TV or Full House customer, you can also watch all this great content in HD on CH 156.

If you miss anything, don’t forget you can catch up on 30 days of programmes in Catch Up > Channels > Sky Arts.

The channel has big plans over the coming months, including No Masks, a virtual play starring Russell Tovey and based on the lives of key workers during the pandemic, and Rankin’s 2020, a photography project with the aim to document the year that has been like no other.

Intrigued about what Sky Arts has to offer? Here are some of the programmes you’ll be able to watch…

Thursday 17 September, 9pm, Sky Arts/HD (CH 123/156)

Sky Arts Late

Thursday 17 September, 10.30pm, Sky Arts/HD (CH 123/156)

The channel’s new late-night discussion show hosted by broadcaster and art historian Tim Marlow features debate, critical discussions, as well as showcasing the best culture Britain has to offer. Described as a “provocative series.”

Guy Garvey: From The Vaults

Friday 18 September, 9pm, Sky Arts/HD (CH 123/156)

The Elbow frontman is no blagger when it comes to his knowledge about music’s history (as listeners to 6 Music would attest). Here, he delves into archive footage featuring era-defining performances and revealing interviews from the greats.

Danny Dyer on Harold Pinter

Tuesday 22 September, 9pm, Sky Arts/HD (CH 123/156)

In the ever-growing list of things we didn’t know about Danny Dyer, the EastEnders hardman had a close friendship with legendary playwright Harold Pinter. Dyer explores the man’s work in this surprisingly tender documentary.

ENO’s La Bohème Live At The Drive-In

Wednesday 23 September 8pm

Featuring Europe’s first drive-in opera to an audience of parked cars – and you at home – filmed live from London’s Alexandra Palace. The venue, normally associated with darts, will no doubt hit the bullseye in this tale of love and doomed romance.
