10 films to start your 2018

Virgin Movies is having a Januay sale! Treat yourself to a movie marathon…

If you love La La Land – or just great films in general – Virgin Movies has got something special for you this January. That’ll be music to your ears…

Rent them all on Virgin Movies

Now that Christmas has come and gone, we’re faced with the prospect of frosty mornings and dark evenings, without the accompaniment of a jolly fat man who delivers presents. It’s enough to make you want to go into hibernation for a couple of months… or at least snuggle up on the sofa in your duvet with enough films to see out the worst of the winter weather.

Good news, gang! With Virgin Movies, you can do just that. While the January sales might not be tempting enough to leave the house for, we’re bringing the bargains to you by offering a diverse range of films to rent throughout the month.

From pulse-raising thrillers to heartwarming romances, inspiring biopics and cerebral sci-fi flicks, our selection of cinematic offerings has something to suit every taste. To whet your viewing appetite, we’ve rounded up ten of the films we’re most excited about this January.

1. La La Land

Available to rent on Virgin Movies. Rent it for only £1.99 from 2-14 January. Also available in HD. Cert 12

A musical for people who don’t like musicals (although anyone who does is likely to find it even more enchanting), La La Land’s giddy blend of nostalgia, humour and heart won it five Academy Awards in 2017. If the on-screen chemistry between Ryan Gosling (Drive) and Emma Stone (Easy A) doesn’t warm your January cockles, we don’t know what will.

2. Hacksaw Ridge

In this gut-wrenching WWII drama, directed by Mel Gibson, Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man) plays real-life army medic Desmond Doss – a pacifist in the midst of a notoriously bloody battle, who makes it his mission to save as many men as possible without ever firing a gun.
