Hopelessly Dev-oted to Mr Patel

Hopelessly Dev-oted to Mr Patel

With unmissable thriller Hotel Mumbai on Sky Cinema, we chart the Slumdog star’s incredible rise

The BAFTA-winning star goes above and beyond the call of duty in this nail-biting Sky Cinema Original Film

Hotel Mumbai, available in cinemas and in Sky Cinema on demand from Friday 27 September. Cert 15

Based on true events, the acclaimed Hotel Mumbai tells the incredible story of the 2008 terrorist attack at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. The attack was one of a number carried out by Islamic militants in the city over four days, with more than 160 people killed across 12 locations.

In this big-screen depiction of the harrowing events, Dev Patel stars as Ardun, a waiter at the hotel who is unexpectedly thrust into the action when gunmen storm the premises. Taking a group of guests under his wing, including Call Me By Your Name’s Armie Hammer and The Death Of Stalin’s Jason Isaacs, Ardun must get the visitors to safety while trying to evade the ruthless terrorists.

Putting you at the heart of the terrifying drama in his directorial debut, Anthony Maras also offers different perspectives on the attack, including the experience of the guests and, intriguingly, the terrorists themselves.

The edge-of-your-seat Hotel Mumbai is just one of the critical and box office smashes Dev Patel has on his increasingly impressive CV. With more than ten years of top films and TV shows under his belt, we’ve rounded up the actor’s best. Click/hover on the plus signs below to find out more…
