A group of strangers face a series of deadly puzzles in this tense thriller
Escape Room, available from Friday 24 January in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 15
If the words “escape room” conjure images of forced fun with your colleagues, don’t worry, we know exactly where you’re coming from. But imagine, just for a second, that your life depended on solving one of these immensely popular puzzle chambers…
New to Sky Cinema, psychological horror Escape Room follows the fates of six strangers who agree to take part in, well, an escape room. But this is no ordinary game of logical and lateral thinking. First of all, there’s a $10,000 prize up for grabs. Nice!
Second of all, their lives are on the line. Because earning ten grand is never straightforward. Finding themselves in a horrifying life-or-death situation, the participants must desperately navigate a series of deadly scenarios that threaten their very existence. Steve from accounting would have no chance.
Who’s behind this most devilish of team-building exercises? And why have these six particular strangers been chosen to take part? As the group ventures further and further into the game, disturbing secrets begin to emerge amid the blood-splattered chaos. Love the nightmarish tension of Saw? Then you’ll love Escape Room.
Directed by horror specialist Adam Robitel (Insidious: The Last Key, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension), Escape Room is proper nerve-shredding stuff, engineered specifically to make your heartbeat race and your sweat glands work overtime. A fun night in for horror fans, then.
But before your get stuck into the labyrinthine terror of this huge box office smash (it earned more than $155 million globally on a budget of $9 million) we want to play a little game. Think you have the mental strength to solve these brain-teasers? Click on the images to reveal the answers…
