Monstrous fun for all the family

Fall under the spell of riotous animated comedy Monster Family on Sky Cinema

Prepare to laugh your brains out! There’s something for everyone in this first Sky Cinema Original Movie – and you can watch it on Sky Cinema the same day it arrives in cinemas

Monster Family, available from Friday 2 March in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert PG. Also available in HD

You know how it is. One minute you’re trying to do a bit of family bonding at a fancy dress party. The next you’re flung out into the street where an evil witch called Baby Yaga turns you into a family of monsters. Okay, so you probably don’t know how it is, but the Wishbones do…

The luck-free family consists of bookshop-owning mum Emma (voiced by Gosford Park’s Emily Watson), overworked dad Frank (Hot Fuzz’s Nick Frost), sarcastic daughter Fay (Downton Abbey’s Jessica Brown Findlay) and misunderstood son Max (Love, Nina’s Ethan Rouse). At the beginning of the film, they are sullen and disconnected, but when they fall under an extraordinary spell they face a choice: come together as a family, prove they can happily get along and return to their human forms, or maintain their current ambivalence for one other and spend the rest of their days as monsters.

It’s safe to say that the family’s attempt to escape Baby Yaga’s spell don’t go particularly smoothly, with Fay’s mutated mummy having issues in Egypt, Frank’s flatulent Frankenstein releasing more wind than a hot air balloon convention and Emma’s vampire desperately trying to both pin down the witch and unite her family. Can she do it before it’s too late? There's only one way to find out...
