First up is Rocketman, the acclaimed biopic of Elton John. Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) stars (and sings) as the flamboyant rocker in this fabulous and occasionally surreal account of the singer-songwriter’s headline-grabbing life both on and off stage.

Featuring the unforgettable hits that made Elton a rock and roll legend (trust us, you’ll be singing them for days after you’ve watched this) and an all-star cast including Bodyguard’s Richard Madden and Jurassic World’s Bryce Dallas Howard) Rocketman is a rollicking account of how he went from being plain old Reginald Kenneth Dwight to an international megastar in the 1970s.
But megastardom isn’t without its problems. The singer’s well-documented issues with substance and alcohol abuse are in full view here, while his fraught romantic life makes this grandiose drama quite the roller coaster ride. This is Elton John we’re talking about after all.
Looking for another pitch-perfect blockbuster to wow you? Then try the live-action remake of Aladdin on for size. One of the highest-grossing films of 2019, director Guy Ritchie’s reimagining of the Disney classic is a cinematic spectacular that oozes magic.

When the titular street urchin (Mena Massoud) befriends a larger-than-life genie (Will Smith) who’s released from a mysterious lamp, he goes about winning the heart of a beautiful princess (Naomi Scott). But Aladdin’s love life should be the least of his worries, because the evil sorcerer Jafar (Marwan Kenzari) has his dastardly sights set on taking over the city of Agrabah. Ooh er.
With its bombastic special effects and irresistible sense of adventure, one look at the trailer will tell you this updated version of the famous tale looks absolutely incredible. Plus, you know you’re intrigued to see what Will Smith is like playing the genie. Prepare for one heck of a magic carpet ride.
