A thriller for the social media age

A thriller for the social media age

New to Sky Cinema, here’s why Searching will keep you on the edge of your sofa

A father attempts to find his missing daughter in this tech-savvy mystery that’s as unorthodox as it is unmissable...

Searching, available from Friday 31 May in Sky Cinema on demand. Cert 12. Also available in HD

In this tense and timely movie, John Cho plays David Kim, whose 16-year-old daughter Margot (Michelle La) vanishes. A police investigation, led by Detective Rosemary Vick (Debra Messing), is launched to track down the missing teenager. However, with seemingly no clues as to her whereabouts, David goes rogue and decides to log in to his daughter’s Facebook account (a risky move for any parent) to see if it offers up any information.

Intrigued? Well, this taut, super-smart thriller (which was made for $1 million before earning nearly $80 million at the box office) will have you gripped from start to finish.

Watch our video below for five reasons to tune in.

The dogged David gets drawn further into the complex world of social media, tracing Margot’s online life as he desperately attempts to discover the truth behind her strange disappearance. From fake profiles to dubious livestreaming websites, he must pick his way through an abundance of information if he wants to get to the bottom of the mystery.

With its unique production methods and plenty of psychological twists and turns, Searching received huge critical acclaim upon its release and will be unlike anything you’ve seen before.
