He’s back, and he’s brought company! In the third instalment of the Despicable Me series, Gru (The Office’s Steve Carell) faces former 80s child star turned villain Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker, South Park). Expect plenty of laughs and evildoing as Gru is forced to join forces with estranged twin brother Dru (also Carell) to overcome a foe unlike any he’s faced before.

Actor-turned-director Zach Braff (Scrubs) assembles a star-studded cast for his remake of the classic 70s comedy. When their pensions are suddenly wiped out, lifelong friends Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin plot to rob the bank responsible in a story that’s as hilarious as it is heart-warming.

The Beguiled

This expertly crafted Civil War drama comes from Lost In Translation writer/director Sofia Coppola. Tensions rise in Virginia when wounded Union soldier John McBurney (In Bruges’s Colin Farrell) is taken in and tended to by headmistress Miss Farnsworth (Nicole Kidman, Big Little Lies), teacher Miss Morrow (Kirsten Dunst, Spider-Man) and pupil Alicia (Elle Fanning, Maleficent). All three vie for his affections as Confederate soldiers close in.

This charming Japanese drama, from award-winning director Naomi Kawase, follows the flourishing relationship between a middle-aged pancake maker and his elderly colleague. It’s a slow burner, but the memorable kind, with a story and characters that will stick with you long after the credits have rolled.

Corey (Fanboys’ Chris Marquette) finally gets a second chance with his high school sweetheart in this feisty comedy. The only hiccup? In the ten years since their graduation, his ex-girlfriend Sheena (Amanda Crew, Silicon Valley) has become Smasheena, a notorious professional wrestler who’s known for not taking any prisoners.
