Who will clinch the Carabao Cup?

Manchester City and Aston Villa go head to head in the final at Wembley, exclusively live on Sky Sports Football

With the season’s first major piece of domestic silverware up for grabs, get up to speed on the action

Carabao Cup final: Aston Villa v Manchester City, Sunday 1 March, 3.30pm, Sky Sports Football/HD (CH 513/503)

It’s the big one. With 92 Carabao Cup matches played so far this season (not to mention a whopping 300 goals scored), we’ve arrived at the final.

Manchester City, who have won the tournament eight times, are bidding to become only the second team after Liverpool to lift the trophy three years on the bounce. And you have to say it will take a monumental effort from Aston Villa to deny Pep Guardiola and his players even more glory in this competition.

But there is hope for Dean Smith’s men. The Villans have seen off fellow Premier League clubs Brighton, Wolves, Liverpool and Leicester City to reach the final, proving they’re more than capable of going toe to toe with serious opposition. With a sixth League Cup title in their sights, can they now go that extra step and cause a major upset against City’s slickers?

It’s all to play for, but before the two teams slug it out live on Sky Sports, click/hover on our essential guide below to get bang up to speed on the Carabao Cup final.
