Goals galore, a smattering of screamers, a slightly dour draw and the end of a winning run made for another cracking weekend of Premier League games, but which match-making moment stood out above the rest?

Read on for our round-up of the action…

1. Result of the weekend

Crystal Palace 2 – 2 Arsenal

With Arsenal drawing plaudits for their ability to outmuscle mid-table teams in recent weeks, Unai Emery’s side finally came unstuck against Roy Hodgson’s plucky Palace, with the Eagles bagging two penalties, scoring their first point since September, and ending Arsenal’s run of 11 straight wins.

2. Goal of the weekend

Gerard Deulofeu (Watford) v Huddersfield

Though their Leicester-esque title challenge has slowed in recent weeks, Watford impressed in conclusively battering the Premier League’s weakest team on Saturday. They did so while scoring some “absolute bangers” too, in particular with Gerard Deulofeu skilfully beating two before smashing the ball past a hapless Jonas Lössl from an acute angle.

3. Performance of the weekend

Ross Barkley (Chelsea) v Burnley

After cutting a distant, bench-dwelling figure for much of his early Chelsea career, Ross Barkley is thriving under the guidance of new boss Maurizio Sarri. In setting up both Alvaro Morata and Willian, plus scoring a belter of his own, it’s safe to say that Saturday’s result was more Ross Barkley United 4, Burnley 0.

4. Manager of the weekend

Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool)

Putting four goals past an out-of-their-depth Cardiff side probably won’t rank among Liverpool’s stand-out performances come the end of the season. But, with the result sending the Reds to the top of the table (for now at least), it was another sign that Klopp’s side look increasingly likely to pose a major threat to Manchester City’s title defence.

5. Most “thrilling” non-event of the weekend

Southampton v Newcastle United

Despite both sides making a surprising 28 shots between them, none went in. As such, Newcastle and Southampton played out what can easily be considered one of the most interestingly uninteresting draws in recent memory. One for the history books, for sure.
