Buckle up – it’s a jam-packed week of action on BT Sport…
BT Sport Round-up
As the sporting seasons enter the final few weeks of March, the very thought of missing out on even a single second of action has supporters across the length and breadth of the UK biting their nails and breaking out in a cold sweat.
Weeks such as these prove particularly difficult to plan, with more points and prizes to play for than at an end-of-year sports day you can just about be bothered to attend. There’s European football giants locking horns and a smorgasbord of English rugby to feast your eyes on, making for a few days that are absolutely packed full of stars and unmissable drama.
But before Liverpool say “guten tag” to the Allianz Arena in their second leg match-up against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, check out our handy round-up and be sure to catch every pass, goal, shot, tackle and try as they happen, live on BT Sport.
Gallagher Premiership Rugby: Bath v Saracens
Friday 8 March, 7pm, BT Sport 3 HD (CH 529)
It’s been a contrasting season for these two titans of English rugby so far. While champions Saracens are in a hotly contested battle with the Chiefs at the top of the table, Bath are firmly entrenched in midtable. Despite their consistent inconsistency, facing Bath at the claustrophobic Recreation Ground is by no means an easy fixture. Expect fireworks, and plenty of them.
Premier League: Manchester City v Watford
Saturday 9 March, 5pm, BT Sport 1 HD (CH 527)
More often than not, teams arrive at the Etihad to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side and find themselves slowly going mad as the effort required to keep track of the endless sequences of back-and-forth passing proves too much. Watford, however, pack a serious sting in their tail and have made a habit this season of giving the so-called “top teams” a run for their money. With plenty of points still to play for, this fixture shouldn’t prove any different.
Gallagher Premiership Rugby: Harlequins v Gloucester
Sunday 10 March, 12.30pm, BT Sport 2 HD (CH 528)
While Saracens and the Chiefs do their best to run away with it at the top of the Premiership standings, these two sides are very much the best of the rest. Harlequins have put their last few sorry seasons behind them by battling their way to the brink of the top two. Gloucester, meanwhile, are displaying the form that has taken them to three European finals in four years by rising up to fourth. Both are firmly in with a shout to challenge for the championship in the end-of-season play-offs (should they make them, of course), making this a mouth-watering match-up that’s definitely not to be missed.
UEFA Champions League: Bayern Munich v Liverpool
Wednesday 13 March, 7pm, BT Sport 2 HD (CH 528)
With ten European Cups/Champions League titles between them, few European club ties come bigger than this. Expect a capacity crowd at the stunning Allianz Arena as these two sides lock horns for the second and final time in their round of 16 tie. A tight 0-0 at Anfield in the first leg means it’s all to play for – although the Reds will have to overcome a Bayern side not known for rolling over at home. Whatever the outcome, it looks set to be a corker of a contest.
