Your big week on Sky Sports

Your big week on Sky Sports

Warm up with a red-hot week of sporting action, including some scorching England internationals in both cricket and rugby union

There’s a blistering week of action on Sky Sports ahead, with rugby, cricket, football and the best of America ready to deliver the drama

This week on Sky Sports

Britain is freezing. There’s no need to glance outside at the array of jumpers and woollen hats – just look at your telly and see how many footballers are now wearing gloves. There’s more knitwear on the pitch than at a Nana’s coffee morning. And who can blame them? They’re wearing shorts… in November. Fortunately for everyone else, there are plenty of reasons to stay indoors thanks to Sky Sports.

The red-hot showdowns this week include England’s final autumn rugby international, all the best action from the NFL and NBA, and every single midweek Sky Bet Championship game live. Throw in the final test between England and Sri Lanka and a host of Premier League ties, and we’re already feeling warmer.

Read on to find out more about what’s on Sky Sports this week…

Cricket: Sri Lanka v England – 3rd Test

Friday 23 November, 4am, Sky Sports Cricket/HD (CH 514/504)

England’s tour of Sri Lanka continues at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo – traditionally a happy hunting ground for the hosts, who have lost just three Tests here since 2001. Ben Foakes, who had planned to go full-on hygge and take the winter off before a late England squad reshuffle, has impressed during the tour, and he will hope to continue that fine form in this third and final Test of the series.

NFL

From Friday 23 November, 1.10am, Sky Sports Action/HD (CH 517/507)

Titans, Falcons, Vikings… It’s undeniable that the NFL was first in line when they were giving out cool nicknames to sports teams. All these impressively-monikered sides are in action on Sky Sports this week, as the Atlanta Falcons travel to New Orleans for the Thanksgiving game in the early hours of 23 November, the Vikings host the Green Bay Packers in Minneapolis late on Sunday night, and the Titans of Tennessee take on the Houston Texans in the Monday night game.

NBA

Minnesota Timberwolves playing in the NBA

From Friday 23 November, 5pm, Sky Sports Arena/HD (CH 518/508)

Here are some timberwolf facts. It was a Secret Service codename for president George HW Bush, and it was the name of a DC Comics hero – essentially a thrift-shop Wolverine. It’s also the nickname of Minnesota’s NBA team, and you can see them in action against the Brooklyn Nets this Friday. Then on Sunday there’s a double header as the Oklahoma City Thunder entertain the Denver Nuggets and the Orlando Magic travel to LA to take on the Lakers, while on Thursday you can see the Washington Wizards against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Rugby Union: England v Australia

Saturday 24 November, 2pm, Sky Sports Action/HD (CH 517/508)

The 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan might still be a year away, but the build-up begins now. And for England players who want to book their flights early (essential if they want to grab that extra leg room), there’s no finer opportunity to do so than against the Wallabies. England defeated Australia 30-6 during last year’s autumn internationals, and the Aussies will be looking for revenge.

Premier League: Bournemouth v Arsenal

Sunday 25 November, 12.30pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

Seven miles of beaches await Arsenal on their Sunday trip to the south coast seaside resort. But there’ll be no time for building sandcastles as Unai Emery’s men look to close the gap at the top after an exciting start to the season. Bournemouth, who have also impressed this term, will need their flood defences to be at their best against the free-scoring Gunners.

Premier League: Wolves v Huddersfield

Sunday 25 November, 3.30pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/502)

The date: 25 April 2017. The place: Molineux Stadium. Izzy Brown’s first-half goal for Huddersfield against Wolves was enough to bag the Terriers a Championship play-off spot, while Wanderers sat a lowly 15th. Fast-forward to now, and what Huddersfield would do for a bit of that magic dust to propel them away from relegation danger. Meanwhile, newly promoted Wolves have it in spades after a record-breaking start to the season.

Premier LeagueBurnley v Newcastle

Newcastle playing in the Premier League

Monday 26 November, 7pm, Sky Sports Premier League/HD (CH 512/503)

Six points are up for grabs in this tie. Not literally, of course – that’d be a blatant infringement of Premier League rules – but it’ll seem that way after the testing starts to the season both these clubs have had. If this was a 100m sprint, both teams would still be untangling their shoelaces from the starting blocks while the leaders started their dips for the finish line. As such, expect a full-on encounter.

Sky Bet Championship

From Tuesday 27 November, 7pm, Sky Sports Football/HD (CH 513/503)

This season on Sky Sports, you can see every game in the midweek rounds of the Sky Bet Championship live on your telly via the red button. No matter what club you support, you can watch them play live, in full and with commentary. This week’s clashes include Hull v Norwich, Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest and Stoke v Derby. So just one question remains: will you remain loyal as your club parks the bus for a hard-fought 0-0, or will you swap games when the goal start flying in elsewhere?…
